Absurdity beyond belief What prevents a woman from being raped is running away.... or something like that. Why (and how) would she stand her ground?

I've heard quite a few jokes based on your absurd assumptions. First time I see somebody take this scenario seriously

Oh just run away? If that was so easy no one would ever get raped or mugged or car jacked. So should you be forced to run away from your own home? And why should YOU have to run away? You aren’t doing anything wrong. You can stand your ground and defend yourself if you choose. /brickwall

Are you claiming no woman has used a gun to prevent someone bigger stronger and faster from doing something horrible? Really?

    Why? Because you're being raped!

Your argument is silly. A woman believes that somebody is going to rape her, and she stands there just to see if he is or not. Joke material. But not material for a serious discussion.

I think you're confusing self-defense (which is valid everywhere) with stand your ground.

There you go... see? Right-wingers are just confusing self defense with stand your ground.

Exactly what I thought. My case is made!

    Thanks for playing....

This is like that pro life thing: You're creating a strawman no one argued.
Stand your ground is the name of the law, she's not going to stand there and do nothing she's going to shoot the POS.

I'm not sure what point of yours I proved. Stand your ground is pretty simple to understand. per CNN "Generally, “stand your ground” laws allow people to respond to threats or force without fear of criminal prosecution"

What point are you trying to prove that you claim Republicans are confused about?

He's black! Why would you expect him to be acquitted?

Race is not the calculus. He shot the passenger, not the person threatening him with force/using force on him.
If you miss, you're not protected by the law.
That's standard anywhere in the USA.

It's called a fair trial. Shotting a weapon from one vehicle to another is a crime in most states. That's a fact.

I don't think race plays in here at all.. The guys is stupid enough to empty a clip from his vehicle into another vehicle needs to be in jail forever. I feel bad for the innocent girl "Whatever" color she was most of all, piss on the shooter, may he enjoy his decade of Knob polishing ;)

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's a fair trial with unfair laws that apply differently to white and black people. So saith the study referenced on the OP.

You can't kill someone because they're yelling at you.

Except we're examining a particular case. In the particular case, the man shot a bystander who was not threatening him with violence.
If he'd shot the person controlling the car, he'd walk. He had no right to shoot the passenger.

Shooting at a car is a crime for all races. You're wandering far off your alleged "I follow the facts" claim. How was this trial "unfair"? Facts only, no LW legends, mantras, or slogans, please.

I wouldn't think anyone would have a problem believing a group of white people was threatening a single person and his girlfriend.

The manslaughter seems to be for a 17-year-old passenger he killed but I'm not sure about this one someone's threatening you with a weapon like a vehicle I think you should be in your right to fire at it but I'm not sure that's what happened. Sounds more like a road rage.

You really think a white person can kill someone because that someone is yelling at them?

Before most of the jury was even born so are you saying this is some sort of ancestral memory that passes psychically from a previous generation?

I'm willing to admit there is a discrepancy based on race in our criminal justice system but it seems to be mostly in sentencing. But the discrepancy between sexes is much greater.

I don't buy this psychic memory from the previous generation crap. Really the thing right now I'm driving a wedge between really black people and everyone else is the news media it's not the history.

That's all "stand your ground" requires to acquit. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as well if the accused is black as it does when they're white.

This guy was in the wrong. Stand your ground isn't carte blanche to create a free fire zone.
