The secession by no more than four or five states could be accomodated by negotiations, but it most unlikely to come to that. In any event, there will be no civil war. All states are way too interdependent for that now. Believe this -- we've got Russia and China to deal with now... with no time or energy left to get embroiled in a civil war.
