5G is the new standard for mobile digital communication. 5G will be much faster, more
real-time capable and needs less energy.

But some people believe in crazy conspiracy theories when it comes to 5G. They believe that 5G causes cancer, kills birds, changes our DNA, transfers our thoughts directly to the government, and much more bullshit. What's wrong with them?

I've never heard before that a mobile phone technology was so aggressively fought as 5G. Did you?

Well, there are concerns about the wavelength and energy of the radio waves involved in 5G.

I fear 5G! I fear other countries like China will kick our ass in 5G tech!

it is non-ionizing radiation. The low energy cannot strip electrons from the molecules in your cells dna.

Microwaves and infrared radiation are also non-ionizing radiation, yet they are without a doubt dangerous.

Only as physical burns. By that standard, the lithium batteries are more dangerous than the radiation.

From what I understand, the voltage/intensity of the signal in combination with the frequency is what makes these signals dangerous.
This is why working directly on a cell tower can be considered harmful while carrying around your phone isn't unless you put it directly on your ear because the area directly around your phone has the highest intensity.

This being the case, wouldn't the 5g having a bunch of mini low power 'towers' at every block be better than a large tower emitting a high intensity signal over a large area? It seems to me that people prefer the 'out of sight out of mind' of the larger towers but it isn't as if you are not being continuously exposed either way, unless you live somewhere where you don't get cell service.
I think with the 5g the towers can be really small and more hidden so we might be able to get away with installing more low intensity signals without people freaking out and making things worse by forcing cell companies to install larger towers further away.

I have never heard of those things until you posted this. I however will avoid 5G as much as possible out of security concerns.

I don't see how anyone can stop 5G from happening, and seeing as China makes nearly every mobile phone on the face of the planet, what then? [IMG]

5G will become the primary means of information gathering (spying) for China by next year and we are all chomping at the bit to help them.

You mean the US is miffed because you want to have the upper hand in the spying, but China has beaten you to it?

While that is a good point, it is not what I meant or I would have said it. Please stop putting your words into my mouth, they are as foul as your comprehension is limited.

And why would a country me "Miffed" because I want something?

DUH! You're an American - I wouldn't have expected you to say it??

Forget it! My comprehension might be limited, but yours is non-existent. Oh and 'miffed' doesn't need to be capitalised.

5G stinks at penetrating buildings. If you're inside, 4G has higher bandwidth.

Just query YT for "5G harmful" or something like that. You'll find crazy stuff like this:

5G is not less secure than previous wireless networks.

Well the wireless router that my cable company gave to me is already 5G. I have a choice when connecting to the device whether to connect at 4G or 5G. But even though they are difference connections my wireless home network shares the same devices whether they are 4G or 5G compatible. So, for example, my computer connects wirelessly to the 5G network, but I can still use my printer that connects at 4G. Both my computer and printer see each other across the networks.

would upgrading power substations with grid scale batteries and fiber optics between substations, be cost effective?

Because it's equal at the RF level, which is the domain of 5G.

5G just makes communication faster, more reliable and more responsive. Security or insecurity comes from the protocols at higher levels. These protocols won't be subject to change regarding 5G.

I'm also paranoid. I do online banking only with a dedicated Linux box. This minimizes the risk of viruses passing on my bank details.
