Well I wasn't one of them, and it's beyond obvious that the rabid left is far more disrespectful to Trump than conservatives ever were to Obama, so it actually goes one way much harsher and more disrespectful than the other, doesn't it?

The Germans, like the people of all nations will forget or revise their history whenever it becomes possible. The world has, for the most part, forgotten how the NSDAP came to power and know only what Hollywood tells them. The better students may have gotten a slightly more detailed picture from a chapter or two from a general history text.
IMO, the monuments to Hitler and the CSA leaders should have been removed from public squares and parks to some other place where they would be hard to ignore.
But that should have been a decision of the people through their elected representatives - not mobs of vandals.

Slavery has been a common accepted and legal institution in almost all human cultures throughout our history and prehistory. The Abolition Movement was a blip in time.
With the advent of the progressive era slavery has come back and it is worse than ever.
The Indians consistently made war on each other and on Americans. This Indians Good Americans Bad theme is absurd. Indians, like all human beings could be very good and very bad.

William Osborn's book is the most comprehensive history of the atrocities committed by both sides during the 268 years of the Indian Wars in what is now the USA. He is very critical of settler atrocities, which he documents in detail, but while the settlers and on occasion the US military did frequently massacre Indians, murder was usually the end of it. This is a rather typical description of an Indian warfare and atrocities which led directly to efforts to remove and isolate them:

"Bil Gilbert reported a Cherokee chief in the 1700s saying to an English agent that the idea of making peace with another tribe was not attractive because the Cherokee must then immediately look for another tribe with whom they could engage in 'our beloved occupation'"

Jackson defeated our enemies and opposed the corrupt ruling political class of his day. Americans should always be grateful to him.
He would have been our greatest president if he had invaded SC and executed the race theory traitors in Charleston - but he did not do that. Hence The Civil War.
That is why his face is not and should not be on Mt Rushmore.

 

They should never have been erected. Once erected they should have been removed to some kind of historical park documenting the history of slavery and the Jim Crow Era.
Plaques with links to comprehensive information could have been a quick cheaper fix, but that monument to Calhoun would gag a buzzard if it knew what it was.

 

Americans should be grateful to every president who actively avoids sending our troops into combat. Many conservatives and Republicans have tend to reflexively back the use of military force overseas and police at home. They are getting over that.

 

Obama and Clinton, like mot presidents took some very hard hits, but the attacks on Trump are unprecedented since Nixon.
And even Nixon occasionally got some good MSM coverage.

Jackson destroyed and mutlilated black folks his whole life, so as a black man why in the hell would I be grateful too him.

It was a war that he started intentionally. In attacking the heavily-biased press, Trump goaded them into outing themselves as the slanderous propagandists they are, and they utterly trashed their own reputations in the process.

Trust in the leftist media is in the toilet, and woke "journalism" is in the process of going broke fast.

It's so bad, CNN is about to get evicted from their own headquarters.

The CNN Center is about to become the house that Trump trashed.

There is a big difference between disagreeing with his policies and dishonoring him. I don't know any that would tear down a statue of him. If any tried, they should be arrested. He was a twice elected US President, and deserves the respect all presidents do. Even the slave owning presidents.

 

Actually the DNC was not founded until 1848 or 20 years after the Democratic part was founded. You can claim that it was modern back in the 19th century but I do not see them as being modern until the mid 1960's after the Diviecrat mentality started to wane and/or they turned into Southern Republicans. Storm Thurman as the most famous of them. Wallace ran as an American Independent in 1968 and in 1972 ran in the Democratic Party primaries. His campaign got paralyzed.
