When your reply lacks any substance-- ^^^-- you avoid the arguments completely..

From past conversations with me, I assume that you know your point, above, is a totally bogus one. I only thought that this way of relating the ideas, would add to my complement of arguments, to be heard by those who do not bother to check the links that are offered, or even read SNIPS, with any degree of earnest focus. There is also a comedic element, mixed in, for those who can appreciate it.

But because something is satire, certainly does not disqualify it, from having a valid argument (FYI). Do you have anything to say, actually about the states that are limiting what can be taught, regarding historical racism, and prohibiting the describing of our country's past, in that discriminatory light?

Also, you left out my other videos. One was from Bill Maher's program, featuring two knowledgeable debaters: one of whom, Ben Shapiro, has been used by the Right, in various posts on this issue (and others). But I don't expect that you'd belittle those, would you?

    "Where?"

I have a feeling that you are not asking me for a geographical location. If this is correct, please rephrase your reply, to be clearer of your exact meaning and, preferably, about your line of thought, as well.

I obviously cannot know the curricula of every school district in the country, but I would be inclined to believe that racist history is given short shift in EVERY school district, in the country.

Oh I see. Even hardcore lib States like California and New York? Gee, I would be surprised about that. I just assumed that you had heard that certain Republican States were guilty of this.

No, you assumed incorrectly (strange then, that you should seem so pompous, about your error). One reason that all our schools are not truly independent of one another, is a financial reality, that there are only so many scholastic publishers, who all wish to sell their materials to schools across the country. Therefore, when they are approached by an influential school lobby, in Texas, with its millions of students, that tells them they don't like this or that, in the texts, the publishers take it out, or change it, to their liking, so as not to write themselves out of that huge market. But the books are not individualized for any one state, not even one as big as Texas. Therefore, the changes wrought in Texas, are put in everyone's school texts.

How Texas Inflicts Bad Textbooks on Us
    Gail Collins
    June 21, 2012 issue

“What happens in Texas doesn’t stay in Texas when it comes to textbooks”

No matter where you live, if your children go to public schools, the textbooks they use were very possibly written under Texas influence. If they graduated with a reflexive suspicion of the concept of separation of church and state and an unexpected interest in the contributions of the National Rifle Association to American history, you know who to blame.

When it comes to meddling with school textbooks, Texas is both similar to other states and totally different. It’s hardly the only one that likes to fiddle around with the material its kids study in class. The difference is due to size—4.8 million textbook-reading schoolchildren as of 2011—and the peculiarities of its system of government, in which the State Board of Education is selected in elections that are practically devoid of voters, and wealthy donors can chip in unlimited amounts of money to help their favorites win.

Those favorites are not shrinking violets
. In 2009, the nation watched in awe as the state board worked on approving a new science curriculum under the leadership of a chair who believed that “evolution is hooey.” In 2010, the subject was social studies and the teachers tasked with drawing up course guidelines were supposed to work in consultation with “experts” added on by the board, one of whom believed that the income tax was contrary to the word of God in the scriptures.

Ever since the 1960s, the selection of schoolbooks in Texas has been a target for the religious right, which worried that schoolchildren were being indoctrinated in godless secularism, and political conservatives who felt that their kids were being given way too much propaganda about the positive aspects of the federal government. Mel Gabler, an oil company clerk, and his wife, Norma, who began their textbook crusade at their kitchen table, were the leaders of the first wave. They brought their supporters to State Board of Education meetings, unrolling their “scroll of shame,” which listed objections they had to the content of the current reading material. At times, the scroll was fifty-four feet long. Products of the Texas school system have the Gablers to thank for the fact that at one point the New Deal was axed from the timeline of significant events in American history.

    [End]

Great bill, but all Americans should be shield from feeling discomfort.

Native Americans can feel discomfort when scalping is mention on TV or in history lessons.
Catholics can feel discomfort when Inquisition is mention on TV or in history lessons.
Republicans can feel discomfort when Richard Nixon is mention on TV or in history lessons.
Democrats can feel discomfort when Monica Lewinsky is mention on TV or in history lessons.
Foridians can feel discomfort when Ron DeSantis is mention on TV or in history lessons.

All Americans should be shield from feeling discomfort!!!

I'm more than happy to belittle Ben Shapiro if need be. I just think it's odd to make a current events point with dopey late night comedians. However if you feel that's perfectly reasonable, go ahead.

He's talking about the news of the day. But here you go, if you prefer to read it, on the web:

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ch...tical-race-theory-legislation-teaching-racism

You will really want to go to the site, though, because of the cool, and specific, way they have set it up. You click on either one of the 36 states which have tried to restrict education, or on one of the 17 that have expanded it, "on racism, bias, the contributions of specific racial or ethnic groups to U.S. history, or related topics," and then you can get the specifics.

    [Snip]
In some states, lawmakers have tried to restrict antiracism training or the teaching of what they call “divisive concepts.” But on the opposite end, other states are adding ethnic studies courses or incorporating more about people of color into their learning standards.

The map you see here depicts the depth and breadth of these ongoing efforts to both restrict and expand how a core aspect of American life is taught in our classrooms. So far, at least 36 states have adopted or introduced laws or policies that restrict teaching about race and racism. With 2022 state legislative sessions underway, new legislation is in the pipeline.

Our map also documents actions taken by state boards of education and executive branches of state governments. In states that haven’t taken such concrete steps, we have spotlighted comments from public officials and other developments to give readers a sense of how the debate is playing out.

    [End]

So now you have no excuse not to be super well- informed on this issue (aren't you glad you asked for reading material, that is, by your poo-pooing of a late- night host's, very general, summation?).

By the way, you still have offered no comment on the general phenomenon, only your impression that it was "odd," of me, to include the clips, I did.

No, not in the least. Perhaps, though, you are blind to your own behaviors. Listen to this argument, objectively, if you can. First, your initial criticism, connecting late night talk shows to vapid content:

    Lil Mike said: ↑
When your knowledge of current events depends on late night talk shows..

That was all you wrote-- and all you needed to write, to get your obvious meaning, across. But I corrected you, in case you had the mis-impression that this was typically my news source:

Yet you have persisted, with the belittling view of your initial reply, & in refusing to accept my explanation that I only used those sources, because I thought they would be more appealing, at least to a segment of the membership.

    Lil Mike said: ↑

Just to make sure, that your opinion of these "dopey late night comedians," had not been missed, by anyone. Followed by more reiteration:

    Lil Mike said: ↑
Your link didn't work, but it's irrelevant anyway. I already said if you want to get the news from late night comedians, to go ahead

Is there a reading problem that you have, of which I am unaware? I made it clear that this was not my preferred source for news, and yet you continue suggesting that it is-- oh, but there's nothing wrong with that; if that's really where you want to get your news.

In fact, I had not reproduced this part of my explanation, above:

But, continuing, with your unaffected replies:

    Lil Mike said: ↑
Tried the link again and it still didn't work. It's OK though, I don't care.
I already said you can get your news from comedy shows if you want.

And I have already told you, 3 of your posts before this, that it is NOT what "I want." Am I imagining a harping on this point, by you?

Well good on Texas for not allowing left wing propaganda being taught to kids. If this had a flow on effect to lib States, then that's good too, but Texas can't be held responsible for that. You think that Texas should have allowed the left wing propaganda which is antithetical to their ideology, just because of the possible flow on effects?

I am going to not be politically correct-- since neither of us cares for that, anyway-- and be real with you, here, Chris. Do you think there was any legitimate reason, that even the biggest F'√¢πing moron in the world, would think that, in the timeline of significant events in American history, the NEW DEAL should not be included? Or that schools should not teach about EVOLUTION, because it's all, "hooey?" What about the idea that not only should a public school teach what is the "word of God," but that income tax is against that Word, in the Scriptures? I know that you might actually like the sound of some, or all, of that, but the truth is that all of those things are PROPAGANDA, to use your word.

Regardless of what anyone might feel about the New Deal, that it doesn't belong in any timeline of significant events in U.S. history, is just stupidity! And one of our country's founding principles was the separation of church and State, so it is clearly not the place of our public schools to teach, "the Word of God." That includes the idiotic interpretation of it, that our own country's Income Tax, was somehow "wrong"-- that is indoctrination. Lastly, while I am an advocate for always reserving a healthy touch of skepticism, that absolutely would not mean teaching "Creationism," on an even plane with the theory of Evolution. All one needs to is teach facts, and let the students come to their own interpretation. But if you are going to call the principle of Evolution-- which has beyond a doubt been shown to be a real process, affecting every living creature on the planet-- a "left wing," idea, then you are ceding real science, to the left; and to avoid teaching it, does equate with dumber kids. And you expect people with this mentality, to be thorough in teaching about anything shameful, done by Americans or our government? You would have to be profoundly gullible, to think that the school system we are talking about, is going to be fair to the Truth, in teaching about our racist past.

    On shielding people from discomfort:

There's been a rumor going around that the Republicans in the United States Senate are seeking a 'safe space' free from women of color with experience in the courts and knowledge of the Constitution of the United States of America.

But then, it's just an unsubstantiated rumor.

Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n remember the Big 5.

New Deal: The article doesn't make it clear what it's referring to. It says: "Products of the Texas school system have the Gablers to thank for the fact that at one point the New Deal was axed from the timeline of significant events in American history." It doesn't back this up with any supporting evidence. HOW were these "Gablers" responsible for this? It doesn't say.

Evolution/income tax: Read carefully: "In 2009, the nation watched in awe as the state board worked on approving a new science curriculum under the leadership of a chair who believed that “evolution is hooey.” In 2010, the subject was social studies and the teachers tasked with drawing up course guidelines were supposed to work in consultation with “experts” added on by the board, one of whom believed that the income tax was contrary to the word of God in the scriptures." Does the article say anything about the personal beliefs of these two board members having any impact on the curriculum? It does not.

Interesting how you use both "theory of evolution" and "principal of evolution." Of course, only one of those is valid. I'll leave it to you to figure out which one that is.

But isn't your claim that Democrat States are also guilty of not teaching about the racist past?
