So, let us say that America has decided to once again pass an anti-abortion law and you have been asked to assist with formulating such a law. There are some main areas to be considered with such an act

    1) Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed - i.e. ectopic pregnancy
    2) What constitutes an "abortion" i.e. can contraception be considered an abortion,
    3) How you will determine if a woman has actually had an abortion - especially in view of the "medical" abortions and wether miscarriages should be viewed as an abortion
    4) Finally what punishment should be given

I wish people would just allow abortion to remain a moral issue.... that would probably have the greatest impact on reductions.

One thing for certain: I would keep open the possibility for women to abort Down Syndrome babies

Will be interesting to see the responses to this thread. I would leave the country for sure if this ever happened though. I could never live in a country where the state made extremely personal and life changing medical decisions for me.

And what is the frequency of that occurrence? BTW Downs, unless it is associated with cardiac anomalies, which it often is, is not a severe life limiting genetic disorder

I know, you know but there are a lot of people who seem to pin hopes on making abortion illegal - I merely wish to show them that there are no easy answers as far as formulating legislation goes

I didn't realise abortion was so important to you that you wouldn't be able to manage living without it.

You mean like forcing you to buy health insurance?
