Fox News Host: 'Women Should Use 'Great Body' To Persuade Jury In Court'

The Huffington Post | by Catherine Taibi | Posted: 03/28/2014 11:59 am EDT
    Excerpts:

"Brian Kilmeade is still making sexist comments about women.

The "Fox & Friends" co-host argued on "The Five" that women who have a "great body" and who "work out" should use that to their advantage in the courtroom. His comments were part of a discussion between the "Five" panelists Thursday about proper female attire for young female lawyers.

"If you could try a case, and you have an asset which is a great body and a great figure, you've got to do everything you can to be successful," Kilmeade said. "So if it means somebody in the jury is going to be swung to your side because of the fact that you work out, then go ahead and do it!"

Kilmeade's comments were in response to a recent blog post by U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf in which he advises female lawyers to "tone it down" in the courtroom as to not be labeled as an "ignorant slut."

The Fox News host has found himself in trouble for his comments about women several times before. He once caused former "Fox & Friends" co-host Gretchen Carlson to walk off the set after he joked that men were "letting women play golf and tennis now. ItÂ’s out of control."

Kilmeade defended the comment later by stating that, "we were having fun." Later that year he joked again that Fox News chooses its female on-air talent by flipping through a Victoria's Secret catalog."

IMO: It is time to clue men into the reasons they need to denigrate women to a certain place that resonates sexuality. Do they really hate women, or is it women's beauty they hate to compete with? I really believe males need to dominate women is because men are ultimately afraid of us.

Anyone around a female long enough certainly notices a persevering strength that appears when a woman speaks from her heart, experiences, and her resume. Always is there an optimism that we have not yet arrived at our prime of consensual life; and that is complete equality with the male in every walk of life. For some dreaded reason, males are deathly afraid of this.

The fact that talk show hosts can so easily denigrate the person-hood of females in general shows how out-of-touch with the women of today Fox News is. Other hosts would consider joking about women while in their presence a serious social no-no, but Fox News is so stuck back in the 40's that they are unaware of any females' feelings to be discussed in such a manner as if her body is the only thing that counts.

If such talk is needed, it belongs in cheap bars among cheap men, or gay bars as some men that haven't had the courage to come out, sit around judging their competition because the great divide between men and women contains sexual problems.

Otherwise men love to have women as best friends in order to get helpful hints on how to make a woman agree to marry him and reap all the benefits of washing his soiled underwear and dirty socks, having his babies, and giving up a promising career in order to be a chubby stay-at-home wife trying to keep the marriage alive with her cooking.

While I don't agree w/this Brian character, your last paragraph is really an ugly, cheap shot at wives and stay-at-home mothers......

I wonder what was in the last paragraph that made your head explode.

In any event I find your reply an ugly, cheap shot at women that prefer satisfying careers over being chubby stay-at-home mothers. Which one are you?

Hmm, my wife is a stay-at-home mom and she's not overweight at all. Perhaps a better question is why you think they all are?

While it was a stupid comment to make on air , and the guy sounds like a real misogynist dope, I have to agree with him to some extent....DON'T Explode just yet!
We live in a still very sexist world and while many people have progressed to the 21 st century many have not.
Some people do favor an attractive woman over an unattractive one whether she's on trial or a lawyer at a trial.
Why do you think female newsanchors have been forced to wear skin tight sleeveless dress and stilletto heels? Sure, it's sexist....Charley Rose and Scott Pelley just wear suits...not muscle shirls, pimp boots and tight pants....BUT the producers know sex sells and are willing to sell women....and if the women want the job they comply...

Yes, every lawyer ( and journalist)should dress in business attire especially in court but if women want to win they WILL be helped , at last partially, by using what attractions they can.....why do you think lawyers try to make their clients look as good as possible in court....

And, no, this doesn't fool thinking people but sexists rarely think as your OP highlights...

Lol.... stop flattering yourself. My head didn't 'explode' when I read your ugliness about wives & mothers who stay home to raise their children. I was kinda surprised b/c I tho't you were for ALL rights for women, including those who choose to be stay-at-home moms - apparently, I was wrong.......

Please point out my 'ugly, cheap shot' at women who prefer a career over being a wife and a mother... I can't find those words anywhere.

I have never had any qualms about a woman who chooses a career over marriage and/or motherhood. It's her life and her choice.

And btw, I was all 3 - a wife, a stay-at-home mom raising my own 3 kids and later when they were in middle school, I went back to work...... it worked for me and my family.

"Chubby" stay-at-home moms? Lol....it's obvious you've never had a child(ren)... they keep you moving, which kept most of us anyway, from getting 'chubby'........

Why such an ugly attitude towards wives and stay-at-home moms?

Right..... especially when the child starts walking, then you're off running - unless the mom parks her toddler in a play pen all day and that's a cruel thing to do to a kid. They need freedom w/ mom close by.

This is Fox Noise we're talking about!

Misogynistic behavior is good for the ratings. It's a way to manufacture outrage, which is the mother's milk of right wing media!

As for the sex part, isn't it obvious that the woman who is in the middle of Fox and Friends always has great legs and a very short skirt??????

When Meghan Kelly migrated to the evening time slot, she admitted that she required to wear a skirt in her former gig.

The absolute best way to lose weight is to teach a K-1 class. Those kids never run out of energy.

It is rather interesting that liberals appear to have great disdain for the stay-at-home mom. It's rather like Gwyneth Paltrow and her letter about how being a film star is harder than working a 9-5 job as a mom. The amount of condescension and cluelessness is amazing.

Please show me where I said that all stay-at-home mothers were overweight. perhaps a better question is why your head exploded too...please explain why you brought your wife into a question that as never directed to you, and was being answered to a member that has superior knowledge of that certain "cheap, ugly shot" syndrome she so easily tries to plant on others.

But hey, good try... but fatally flawed.

Shouldn't anyone in a competitive field use every tool they can to win? Including lawyers male or female?

    objectification-quit-staring.jpg

Or is it marriage you are railing against, I'm not sure which one offends you?

Your view of marriage is quite out of touch either way.

Marriage is a far greater benefit to women than men as is divorce. Which is one reason for the growing trend of men rejecting marriage and fatherhood before they are trapped in it , much to the dismay of many women

    - - - Updated - - -

You did not say all but you did imply that it is the norm to trade a great career for being a chubby stay at home mom.

He's right of course. Aside from affirmative action and in some cases a yummy body, is about all women really have going for them.

    Here you go:

There's no qualifier such as some, many, almost all. Your statement flat-out says that women give up their careers to be chubby stay-at-home moms. That's where you said it, no qualifier is even implied. And that's on top of the comment that stay-at-home moms are trying to keep their marriages alive with their cooking, which is actually a rather callous comment there.

You're definitely giving yourself way too much credit. I'm more amused by you than upset.

This is a public forum. That means I, or anyone else, can jump into a discussion that you post in public and discuss what we want in reaction to the topic so long as they are within the rules. If you only want to discuss the issue with certain people, you should consider discussing it in a group PM. Otherwise, anyone here, including myself, may come into your thread and post whenever we wish. Unless someone breaks the rules and guidelines set down by the mods, you have no say in who posts in your threads.

Sounds like she got under your skin there if that's your reaction. Or as you put it, made your head explode.

    .....

The sexual position that is put onto females by talk show hosts is disgusting, uncalled for and appears to be an effort to keep women in an inferior position and smaller paychecks by the males and behavior. There is fun in a natural interplay between the sexes, like flirting, cuddling, and is healthy interaction. That is far from Limbaugh and his rants about sluts and whores because he was enraged by something she said, or hosts that give opinions about women that are nothing but his own vapid feelings concerning women. Notice that men never forget a woman that has turned them down.

While I love all the interplay between men and women, some of the males in public view make attempts to denigrate women that is unhealthy for a young girl (or boy) to hear and watch. Much of the disrespect for women comes from males that have been turned down by one woman and learns to cherish that act by denigrating every other woman he will meet in his lifetime.

This thread shows that upon hiring a talk show host, the employer must insist on proper decorum by not demonstrating his private views of his own inferiority. A healthy outlook toward women makes for a happy man for his entire life...from his mother, to his first kiss with a girl, to his wife, and on to his female children.

Brian Kilmeade is a misogynistic creep. Unfortunately that's not the only slander that's come out of his mouth. He makes lots of racist slurs too.

However, with these credentials he makes the ideal Fox host, perfect for Fox and Friends. They're all nut cases on that propaganda show.

Much ado about nothing. If this had been said on "The View," it wouldn't be newsworthy, story is all about boogeyoogey Fox News in reality. If feminists weren't such hissy drama queens, going around in a constant state of being offended, more people would take their positions seriously. The Five IIRC is half comedy show where they all tease each other and say controversial things, rip on each other, etc. It's not some serious news programming or serious journalism.

Here's the actual clip, and it's great advice for women or men advocating for clients. Moreover, If folks think this stuff isn't scripted in advance for humor and shock appeal, well, I got a bridge to sell you.

Note also that his advice is not even gender specific, but in response to the gender specific thing the judge said.

So you are saying that all males have rejection problems and all women are free from this problem? I don't cause I realize that rejection is a fact of life, and if I ask a woman on a date and get rejected, why should I care? I just move on. It is not like other news networks don't also have attractive women on their staff and on air. Their are stories of women getting fired because they look to good, and now that they have the chance to use that to their advantage, you say that they shouldn't. Everyone has a gift, some have good looks, some have intelligence, some are good at sports or other skills. Besides the women at Fox do good at their job and if they are required to wear something, so what, all the guys have to wear suits every day. To tell you the truth, the main force against the women's rights movement in the 60's were not males, but women who only wanted the option to be stay at home moms. If a woman wants a job or to be a stay at home mom, who cares what they choose to be. As far as I see, the women of Fox dress sexy but classy which I think its a good balance for it allows the woman to be taken seriously in the work place while still looking beautiful as well.

It is rather stupid to insist that "liberals" rather than "some people" have a great disdain for stay-at-home moms . And that is the truth....some people, no matter what their affiliations do have disdain for stay at home moms..."Some" Conservatives loathe them especially if they're poor and not married...
