This might at first glance appear to be more of a nerd or geek story, but it goes a bit deeper if you think about it a minute.

The editors of CNet, a fairly well read site that many people depend on for reviews of technology was told by it's corporate masters to remove a product from a best of list that it's editors had already put together because they disagreed with the product and in fact are part of litigation against the product's producer.

So, in this seemingly non-political tiff between a publication's editors and corporate masters, the suits decided what was appropriate to win an award.

But does it just stop there? I think not, and much of the evidence already exists. The large slant that MSNBC, Fox and others have always been pretty evident, but apparently it affects all media outlets and that the corporate fix is in on what news is appropriate to listen to, and what isn't.

Personally, I think Media has gotten to big and needs broken up every bit as much as Banks do too. We need independent voices in the media, and while the Internet has been a godsend in many ways, it needs to go farther. Quite frankly, these large multinational news organizations like Murdoch's and several others out there are bad for accurate reporting.

Most small town newspapers in my local area may as well all be the same one, as they are all owned by Gannett news, and aside from a few local bits, most of the news they report is rehashed from one to another. It's no wonder that the small town newspapers are dying off, there's almost no originality to any of them. Even the websites they create are shadows of one another and are hardly original or ground breaking.

The media in America has turned into one of the following,

Shock Media that's completely in your face
Cult Media - IE think the Kardashians
Corporate Media - It's got to be safe, can't argue

I doubt there's any good solution, but I'd like see some honest media, where the editors of a publication are not throttled by the corporate bosses.
