HONOLULU A federal judge ruled Wednesday against two Hawaii women who want to get married instead of enter into a civil union, handing a victory to opponents of gay marriage in a state that's been at the forefront of the issue. Sponsored Links U.S. District Court Judge Alan C. Kay's ruling sides with Hawaii Health Director Loretta Fuddy and Hawaii Family Forum, a Christian group that was allowed to intervene in the case. "Accordingly, Hawaii's marriage laws are not unconstitutional," the ruling states. "Nationwide, citizens are engaged in a robust debate over this divisive social issue. If the traditional institution of marriage is to be reconstructed, as sought by the plaintiffs, it should be done by a democratically elected legislature or the people through a constitutional amendment," and not through the courts. Well done! FINALLY a judge that refuses to rewrite the law! http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation...-rules-against-hawaii-gay-marriage/56896354/1
Is this the same constitution that it used to have during its time as an independant nation? If so, I don't see why their old constitution should have any relevance to their laws as a state.
That is a solid victory....for bigotry and government regulation of the personal lives of adults. I generally celebrate those things too! Not really. Wait for it though. I am predicting the endless you have to allow people to marry children and gender has no age arguments. Oh, you left out this part of the article. The lawsuit by Natasha Jackson and Janin Kleid argues they need to be married in order to get certain federal benefits. Co-plaintiff Gary Bradley wants to marry his foreign national partner to help him change his immigration status.
judge was wrong as they sometimes are, they let their beliefs interfere with there job http://law2.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/loving.html "Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And, but for the interference with his arrangement, there would be no cause for such marriage. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix." -Judge Leon M. Bazile (January 6, 1959) .
By that logic Asians, Africans, and Europeans can freely intermarry. While aborigines and native americans cannot intermarry with anyone of another race. Also by that logic anyone living on the British Isles can only marry British people.
What the hell does a Christian group have to do with this? They should mind their own bloody business and stop interfering!
