Ok, I have gay friends. I am tolerant, but I won't go to San Francisco. I know the yukky things gay guys do there in public and I am concerned about catching a fecal born disease. Am I phobic or is there cause for concern? I mean, I am told gays are like everyone else, so I try to convince myself this is true and go on Craigslist and read personals. Why is it the gay guy section is filled with the most perverted stuff on the planet? I mean, does it or does it not stand to reason that if one put his finger in an anus he will have fecal matter under his fingernails? How do gay guys get that out? Do gay chefs use gloves in the kitchen? Inquiring minds want to know! If I choose, for public health reasons not to eat at a restaurant w/ a gay chef why does that make me bad? Also, why is HIV/aids not mandated as reportable but everything else is?????
Okay I will answer you seriously and assume you are not just trolling Well that is your loss. San Francisco is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States. And the weather is lovely here right now- temperatures should be in the 70's tomorrow. Tourists love San Francisco. How do you know the 'yukky things gay guys do there in public'? Since you have never been here. I have lived here for over 20 years and I don't know 'yukky things gay guys' do here. Sometimes I go a whole day without seeing someone wearing a rainbow shirt. You might be phobic. Perhaps the issue is that you are reading Craiglist personals. Why are you reading the 'gay guy section' on Craigslist? Do you worry about that about non-gay chefs- because you do realize that everyone has an anus right- and heterosexuals do kinky things too. I personally don't want to know what sexual things people are doing in private, but Chefs are required to clean their hands thoroughly and all San Francisco are inspected and have their health scores posted for you to check out if you are worried. If you don't announce it, no one will ever know. I would recommend you spend the time you are using to read gay personals on Craigslist to do some research on that instead. Assuming that your post is entirely serious, which I doubt it is, I will say that if you are so phobic about homosexuals and disease- then don't come here- you won't enjoy yourself and you might embaress yourself around openly gay people. But as a married man and father I can say this is a wonderful city, that our entire family enjoys. When we have guests come in from out of town, they love San Francisco too.
well, don't go to san Francisco than. I think you are a little naive if you don't think that same stuff happens in every city in every country. But who am I to burst your bubble?
I don't know, I thought San Fran was pretty tame an boring last time I was there, I guess I just didn't know where to go. Then again I'm from Vegas, so my standards might be a little different. On that note, I'd recommend you avoid Vegas as well... not much of a "gay" town just as reputable for kinkiness. Manicures, silly.
You do realize that San Francisco is a large city right? That not all areas are full of gays? Also you must realize that anyone posting on a craigslist personals add is not representative of normal? It's an anonymous sex add listing...meaning you're a pretty big pervert to be posting or looking for a hook up there. - - - Updated - - - Manicures...and for hygienes sake glover or a finger cot.
one of the prettiest city views I've seen is going to Coit tower park at night and looking out at the bay. Yes, there are areas in SF which you avoid if you don't want to see homosexuals in action. I suggest that you don't go to P town on Cape Cod either
Your post is heavily laced with fear and antipathy directed toward homosexuality. I suspect that no matter where you go... you'll have a problem when you think of homosexuality. If I did that concerning heterosexuality... I'd likely be one miserable, cynical dude.
and imagine that, you avoided answering the concern by the fail-safe "you must be a homophobe" defense. is it a concern that a man with fecal matter under his nails from finger humping his gay lover's anus a valid health concern? I believe it is. So if the OP is hesitant to shake a gay guy's hand, while you try and dismiss it as "homophobic" I dismiss it as trying to remain healthy. It's a valid health concern of a demographic that proves itself to be the most at risk group for all sorts of diseases that are a direct result of their sexual behavior. Yes, there are freaky straights out there, too, that do the same things.... but based on the percentages of the total demographic.... the risk is much less likely to shake a hand covered in disease from a straight guy, than a gay one. Sure, there are gay guys who haven't had sex in many many years.... so he's not a risk. But percentages are still there.... gay guy, more risky - - - Updated - - - well, when heterosexuality leads the CDC in percentages affected by HIV/AIDs based on how and where they stick their dick.... you'd have a valid concern.
Last time I was in SFO there seemed to be lots of hookers in the area. Since I had my daughter along, I was a little concerned and mentioned it to a cab driver whose response was, 'just be glad you're in the part of town where hookers are female." Beautiful city... lots of porn newspapers available on the street corners... if you're into that sort of thing.
Reading comprehension is a valuable tool. This is what the OP asked: "Am I phobic or is there cause for concern?" Note my response was completely- and exactly related to his question. "You might be phobic." You were the one who made that comment to be about 'homophobia- not me, not the OP. Why? As far as the rest- I have come to the conclusion that you essentially troll- so I don't really care about what else you said.
I know, he gave you a perfect chance to avoid admitting the fact that gays are riskier health wise. And you were more than happy to oblige discussing that.
Unfortunately there are hookers here- I can tell you almost to the block where they are- not because I frequent hookers but because a bar I used to go was not far from the area. Essentially right next to the theater district- which is a bit of shock to some of our visitors. The area is maybe a 3 x 4 block area of the Tenderloin. I don't want to downplay the issue- the life of streetwalker is not "Pretty Woman", but society has been singularly unsuccessful in finding a way to prevent it. So anyway- that is one part of San Francisco I would not recommend to visitors- not even the ones who were looking for hookers. Of course hookers are an issue in most major cities- I have even seen them in Dallas. No idea about the porn newspapers - - - Updated - - - This is what the OP asked: "Am I phobic or is there cause for concern?" Note my response was completely- and exactly related to his question. "You might be phobic." And given the rest of his post- he may be.
....nothing to see here, nm your kids can buy them, we really are family friendly here in S.F. The same reason why ciggerette vending machines are now not allowed outside of gas stations but somehow.... gay porn is readily available to any kid. ....and gays aren't recruitting.... lol
If the kid is not gay he won't be looking for gay porn, instead he'll be turning the 'naughty' filter off of Google and searching for boobies. lol Which brings me to my point that heterosexual porn is also just as readily available to anyone searching for it, even kids.
Buy what? There are no 'Porn newspapers' on sale on street corners that I am aware of. Perhaps there are downtown, but I don't remember seeing any. Certainly not in my neighborhood, nor any neighborhood I regularly visit. Well you seem to be the expert on how to get gay porn- I bow to your first hand experience. I haven't seen 'gay porn' in vending machines. I will just point out that the majority of porn is oriented towards, and enjoyed by, heterosexuals- according to statistics. Apparently 'heterosexuals' are recruiting too.
Just to clarify... the newspapers I mentioned were 'adult entertainment' newspapers like those you find in Vegas. While they might advertise porn, the papers themselves are not porn. But theyre not something you want your kids picking up either.
So you were complaining about publications protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution being available on the streets of San Francisco? Frankly I don't see those types of newspapers in my neighborhood either, but if you were hanging out in the Tenderloin, then they might be there. I do not recommend the Tenderloin as a fun filled family neighborhood to go visit. I would recommend Golden Gate Park, Chrissy Field, the Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, China Town, Noe Valley, Lands End and the Golden Gate Bridge.
They were on the corner by our hotel... Hyatt or Hilton or some big high rise. And yes, I saw them in various locations around downtown. They might be free speech, but you don't see them in family-friendly cities. It's good you live outside the downtown area if you have children. We did all the touristy things. Including freezing half to death in the middle of summer.
This reminds me of folks who start off saying things like "I have black friends, but I am about to say something horribly offensive about blacks" I am tolerant, but not so tolerant that I will enter the same county as gay people. Yeah, that is a display of tolerance. See below. What is a "fecal born disease"? Probably the same way straight guys and girls get it out. Really? Is this your argument? Gays have (*)(*)(*)(*) under their nails? I have gay friends, but gays have (*)(*)(*)(*) under their nails.
based on total demographic percentages.... gays still win. It's like prisons.... the majority is white.... but blacks have a higher percentage of total demographic incarcerated.... sure is a lot of gay porn for 3% of the total population.
if there was no demand, there would be no supply. It's true in every city I need you to get See's to lower their price on nuts and chews, my personal demand will then increase
It's a filthy city. While I'm sure it isn't representative of the entire city, I was blessed enough to see why it's called San Canned Crisco. Not by choice, of course.... which fits the topic of thread.
LOL..... http://www.travelandleisure.com/americas-favorite-cities/2013/city/san-francisco Still one of the favorite destinations for tourists and California residents alike. Don't let the door hit you on your way out.
Not sure why you post a local city guide if trying to make a point. You don't need to prove anything to me, I couldn't give a F what you think of the place. Is Myrtle Beach still the 3rd most popular destination for US vacations after the 2 Disneys ? And have you seen that place? Anyway, while ignoring where I said it probably "isn't representative of the entire city", there is no need to get defensive, the little bits I saw were basically what the OP is about. Capitalizing your "LOL" won't change that.
