The last thing Russia needs is more land and more responsibility. But it does feel a responsibility to the 20 million Russians that found themselves living outside of Russia with the break up of the Soviet Union. Putin wants the Russians living in those countries to be treated fairly.

The Russians in the Baltics live on their ancestral home, otherwise they would leave. Putin has offered all ethnic Russians, as well as Slavs who do not want to become a part of the new world order, and want to retain their heritage and religious faith, free land in Siberia.

 

No, the first thing Russia desperately wants is warm water port access, hence Crimea. The Baltics are similarly under serious threat, hence the nonsense propaganda you've just been parroting about "apartheid" for Russians living there.
