People throw out large numbers like they're talking about their ten fingers. Can you really imagine in your mind how long 4 1/2--5 billion years is?

Take a look at this to give that number some meaning = http://www.worsleyschool.net/science/files/toiletpaper/history.html

Notice the time span represented by the last narrow red line. Among other reasons that's why the idea of UFOs visiting humans is so illogical. It's just an eye blink.

Distances in the universe are even more mind-boggling that the toilet paper article. The nearest star to us is Alpha Centauri (a triple star system.) it is 4 1/2 light years away. Light, traveling at 286,000 miles per second would take 4 1/2 years to get there. Using a current technology space probe, the trip would take over 30,000 years. If there are no aliens at Alpha Centauri, then the next closest star is 8 light years away and so on. There could be life all over the universe with no way for any of it to encounter an alien just because of the distances involved. At that point you need to begin believing in warp drives.

Warp drives are a cool idea but they only work in sci-fi movies. The galaxy is about 100,000 lights years in diameter. If you had a vehicle that could do 100 light years in a year it would still take 1,000 years to reach the other side of the galaxy. Is it possible to maneuver anything at that speed? How could you avoid stars, planets, asteroids, etc? And then there's the problem of reliability and durability. Plus what kind of gravity effect would you create zooming through space? You could disrupt everything. And how could you stop at your desired destination if you don't even know where you're going or where it would be when you get there?

The bottom line is that we are here, at least for the next few hours. Everything else is on their own worlds. We will never meet and that's probably the best news of all.

Not when you consider the implications

Most people who are rational agree with you, but like you, they did not actually study Genesis. They cheated by assuming the religious people had read and understood Genesis.

Both you and they have criticized, NOT what is written in Genesis, but the things the religious people told you Genesis says.
    You never checked it out.

For instance, when a sensible person reads that there was "beginning" to the heavens and the earth, they would realize that science proved that is true when Hubble pointed to The Big Bang Theory.

When Genesis says life appeared as an act-of-God in a Spontaneous Generation, it agrees with what science calls Abiogenesis.

And the Bible says that the Plant Kingdom appeared first, followed by the Animal Kingdom, which is true also.

Every verse in Genesis 1 is actually an amazing set of true facts which today science cionfirms.
