The service module which will contains propulsion and life support systems for the moon mission was developed and build in Germany and now delivered to USA.

The deal is, that Germany developed and delivers a service module which will propell the Orion capsule to the Moon and bring it back save. On the other side the americans guaranteed a seat in the first moon landing for a german astronaut. That means the 2nd nation who steps on the moon will be German.

The deal was made when Obama was still president.

The delievered module is used on Artemis I. A test flight without crew that will orbit the moon. The 2nd module is already under construction and will be send to USA within next months

First European Service Module leaving Bremen
On Monday morning 5 November 2019 the first European Service Module for NASA’s Orion spacecraft was loaded onto an Antonov An-124 aircraft in Bremen airport Germany and sent across the Atlantic to the NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA.

The module was packed in a custom-built container that keeps the environment inside within acceptable limits for transportation. It will fly via Hamburg, Germany, and Portsmouth, USA for refuelling and customs.

This delivery is a milestone in the module’s journey to the Moon. The European Service Module will be connected to the Spacecraft Adaptor and the Crew Module in USA for further testing before its final flight around the Moon. The first Orion mission, called Exploration Mission-1, will be a test flight without astronauts and will travel farther into space than any human-rated spacecraft has ventured. The mission is expected to launch in 2020.

It may not fail, but they'll fake the exhaust testing!

However if we agreed to bring a German astronaut for the next lunar landing, that's a big feather in the cap for Germany.

Most likely Alexander Gerst. He is already training for this mission.

Doubtful. I think Germany is looking for a more diverse candidate. I think the first German on the moon will be Aziz Dyab. What a proud day for all Germans it will be when Aziz takes that first step....

    It is now!

The half-wit idea of Arian Nation white supremacist nordic superiority failed in WW2, properly so, and is now in trash bin of History!

In fairness, Germans had better tech in WW2. Better tanks and planes (except the Brits had an even better plane).

But hell, you should know. We're you in WW2?

Why do we need a German on the Moon mission?

I know... to keep guard and defend landing module against aliens!

They had good engineers but were inferior in every other respect.

It is pretty widely accepted that the German panzer was superior to the American sherman.

I can't believe you're making a big deal out of this. You're so hardcore HUR DUR AMERICA that you won't even admit that German tech was better in WW2, which is pretty widely accepted.

Look, diversity in Germany means that in eastern Germany only 3.1% are non germans. And from those 3.1 % 95% are europeans.

Diversity in weakness amd cancer. Its that easy. Beside that this topic is about the lunar service module

Bullshit. Diversity is weakness. Germany has a very homogenous society, which creates order. Not chaotic system like USA with gargantuan crime levels.

Im proud to be German and i believe that our race is superior to others. I advice you to visit africa or middle east and you will see that im right.

Racism is nothing negative. Its the immune system of a healthy society.

We won both wars. Both wars were fought so Germany becomes the dominant power of europe.

Today Germany is the dominant power of Europe. While the Brits still depended on fooodstamps 10 years after W W II, Germans already vacationed in Italy and dominated the economy.

In both wars, Germany led in technology. We lost because lack of rescources. Quantity won over quality.

Germany had been preparing for years for this war. America wasn't. Hitler was stupid starting a war on two fronts and then splitting his force in Russia. They thought it would be such a quick victory, the Germans didn't even have winter uniforms and thousands got frost bite or froze to death.

And if it doesn't fail nobody can handle it. :D
German technology stuff is often too complicated and over-engineered.

Of course it will work. Its also planned redundant. You see all OMS noozeles are redundant ect. It based on our ISS delivery capsule design, which never failed.
