Just found your forum and love to argue politics so expect my 2 cents on anything that affects the world in general!

Just to let everyone know I'm a libertarian farmer with socialist leanings I would be the best way to explain me!

I believe in personal freedoms small efficient honest government and that some things we have to do that we don't like are for the social good such as helping the truly poor and disadvantaged but at the same time making lazy folks work for the hand out(even a man with no legs can stuff envelopes)get my drift!

I also believe that our government has become corrupt and inefficient by way of money in politics coming not from the people but the big corps and think its time for Americans to wake up!

I also realise that when our government becomes so corrupt that voicing your opinion is illegal I will be one of the first to hang-so be it they will have to gag me if they don't want the spectators at the hanging to hear my opinion!

In summary I believe that helping those in need is not Christian because I don't mix my religion with politics but the right thing to do! And in that old adage (Give a man a fish he eats for a day-teach him to fish he eats for a lifetime )But at the same time like any sane person I realise that to fish he needs a fishing pole!

Welcome. I can't help but think you might be a little confused. Socialist leanings and Individual freedom don't work together. But I'm sure we will hear from you and it will be all spelled out:)

    Again...welcome.

Oh, I don't know - the labels might be wrong (actual 'socialism' does tend to include an element of authoritarianism, by its very nature, but not all political views which contain a 'social' element are necessarily 'socilaism'), but then they often are in the US two-party model of politics.

From the brief description above, I'd characterise the opinions (as they appear so far) as being broadly in line with 'social liberalism' or 'modern liberalism' (although I would say 'providing opportunity to work' and 'incentivising work', rather than just 'making lazy folks work' - it's not far away from the same kind of idea, though). Try having a read of the UK's Liberal Democrats constitution preamble, and see if that is a reasonable description of those kind of opinions - that would confirm it.

Good morning, welcome to the forum.

As for labels...most of us don't fit just one mold. Live and learn.:)
