Glenn Greenwald resigns from the Intercept following dispute over Biden story

In a lengthy note published on Substack, Greenwald said the publication refused to publish the piece, “in violation of my contractual right of editorial freedom,” unless he removed “all sections critical of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, the candidate vehemently supported by all New-York-based Intercept editors involved in this effort at suppression.”

The Intercept strongly countered those claims, with Editor in Chief Betsy Reed telling The Washington Post in an email that “it is absolutely not true that Glenn Greenwald was asked to remove all sections critical of Joe Biden from his article. He was asked to support his claims and innuendo about corrupt actions by Joe Biden with evidence.”

The thing is, though, despite the rights protestation that the MSM is in cahoots with the left, a number of big MSM outlets have come close to running an article on Biden. The lack of publication appears to have nothing to do with political allegiance though.


For example, apparently the Wall Street journal the came THAT close publishing an 'explosive' article on Biden (that would be JOE Biden). The reason they stopped is the critical foundation to investigative journalism known as 'supporting evidence' just did not come through. The New York Post ran with it, but being a speculative piece it had lost all its ompff.

Would the (sensible) left want to know if Joe Biden was a corrupt individual? You bet. But no evidence, no dessert. It's as simple as that.

It would be interesting to know who 'the editors' are. My first feeling was that it was some mistake caused by hypersensitity but their respose suggests it is more than that.

It's a pity there's isn't a joint subscription for the major journalistic outlets - instead of having to pay for them all individually. At least, there isn't in Australia

 

Sure and that would fly except that no such editorial standards were evident when those same media outlets were absolutely determined to destroy Trump when publishining heresay and inuendo as fact from the Russian disinformation dossier -- which they KNEW was Russian disinformation at the time -- to speculation over the pee tape -- which again . . . DITTO to the publication of EVERY anonymous source on ANYTHING that they could dig up . . . meaning pay for. So in other words, yes; they are now very clearly spinning, covering, and ignoring things for the benefit of Joe Biden else they would apply the exact same editorial 'standards' to Biden.

 

Pay for them? I won't even read them let alone pay for them.

 

I like Greenwald, and admire him for speaking out, in this case resigning from the fraudsters.

According to Wiki the editors are Betsy Reed who I know nothing about and also Jeremy Scahill who like Glenn Greenwald I have a lot of respect for.

Being an Australian I didn't really dig too deep into the Russian investigation, etc. But I do remember a certain point where I was completely sick of it. They did find some easy indictment targets along the way, more or less by accident ( you can't claim they're all innocent Angels) , but I thought going for Trump was a complete waste of time money and mental space. After the Mueller report they should have let it drop...

if you're going to talk about Harvey, you need to talk about all the rest. It was an entire culture that extended far beyond Hollywood and everybody covered for them. A lot of women were shamelessly in kahoots as well

i believe the FBI have been investigating H Biden since 2019, I find it interesting that the leftwing media & social media published the fake Obamagate Russian Spy scandal day after day after day..... but this story... nope has to be fake because in my leftie head it simply can't be true

I can't speak for everyone on the left but I think most left on this forum have become increasingly tired of posts that lead to nothing. You follow the link and there's a bunch of hot air. Some weirdo tabloid thing geared up towards the brainless nincompoop level.

At least with the Russian thing there were... you know, meetings recorded, evidence, indictments.. DOJ, FBI you know that sort of normal stuff that you associate with an actual investigation. I was bloody sick of it by the end of it and it became completely politicized but at least there was some non-fiction and officially proven legitimacy behind the story.
