Glorification of America

Why are there so many television productions with the sole aim
to glorify America and its achievements...???

 

Everyone loves America, and even those who don't still love to hate America. We really are just that awesome.

 

Oh please...let me bow down to you oh great ones....

 

Because we make a lot of television, and it's sooooo good, better than anything the rest can come up with, except maybe the BBC, but only rarely.

 

Given how many Australians work in American TV I can understand why it is so awesome

 

Seriously, a large percentage of American TV is just garbage..
And if you look closely, the garbage is starting to rot...

 

I know, but even American garbage is so much better than what the rest of the world makes........
And when they hit right, The Sopranos,Breaking Bad, The Wire, Kojak, Columbo, Sledge Hammer

I mean, what do you got?
We got the dream factory, and really in this case, second place is a million miles behind.

 

We're getting off topic a bit...my OP was that the productions "glorify America"...
Are you saying that they don't??...

 

What do you mean by 'glorify' and what television shows are you talking about, specifically?

 

Have you got a spare couple of days...

 

Just give one example, maybe that will help.

 

In what way do they "glorify" America? they expose facets of America, which can be glorious, but not always.

America is an immense reality that needs coesion and love for the nation is that powerful glue. If America is so great it's because over time people loved their big country, their freedom and way of life. Films, music, shows, many of them are all about glorification of the country, often carrying a great load of hypocrisy, if not plain hate for the " others ".

Luckily, this way of thinking " Americans do it better " will die and be replaced by some new common sense. The world urgently needs a new way wich doesn't imply " we are big and you are in the way ". We all need to be wise and not favor pride to what is righteous.

 

It's amazing to me how quickly people will accept a questionable premise.

 

Because it sells.

 

Even the formerly decent cable channels like Discovery, TLC, Science, Military, History, etc. are turning to snot. Just about every program is about aliens this or aliens that. The Military Channels next "Officer and a Movie" segment is going to be running "The Fugitive". No earthly idea how that relates to the military, but it seems all of those channels are running on fumes.

 

Examples? I don't know of any that are doing that.

I am only familiar with Band of Brothers but it was way more nuanced then 80s Pensacola for example.

I think Kickstarter can give us new interesting documentaries.

 

Lizard Lick Towing, and Here comes Honey Boo Boo give a fascinating insight into American awesomeness, and the whole "Storage Wars" franchise shows the world new vistas of greed and venality.

 

No one would watch Storage Wars if Brandi wasn't in it...hubba hubba...
But yeah greedy thieves preying on the ill fortune of others....
