A crackdown by municipal authorities on an attempt by extreme-right Golden Dawn to distribute free food in central Syntagma Square on Thursday prompted one of the partys MPs to attempt an assault on Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis during which the MP apparently tried to pull out a gun. http://www.ekathimerini.com/4dcgi/_w_articles_wsite1_1_02/05/2013_497170 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Here are two excerpts from an article in the same paper: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "...Seraphim, the bishop of Piraeus, spoke publicly of the paganistic dimension of Greeces ultranationalist party Golden Dawn which purports to be deeply committed to the Orthodox faith putting forth scholarly arguments that are probably lost on the public..." "...Paganism reveals itself in the way that it tries to make everyone think and act alike in a purified environment, in the way that it uses information to suggest that the fallen grandeur of a country is due to its contact with alien and hostile powers. It is basically a defensive movement that emerges when society feels threatened. It banks on the eternal narrative of returning to a national community..." http://www.ekathimerini.com/4dcgi/_w_articles_wsite3_1_02/05/2013_496980
I find it ironic how Greek nationalism has historically been praised by the West, for defending their country, fighting for independance and democracy, and keeping the Turks at bay. Now prevailing ideologies in the West have changed, the Greek history is not a convenient one for multiculuralism. Western historians are now trying to put emphasis on how Greek nationalism displaced so many Turkish minorities back to Turkey.
Due to the over extension of credit throughout the world, governments and businesses will be forced to make drastic cuts. The result will likely be the rise in ultra nationalism with some currents of racism in it's wake. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Is the prevailing ideology of whichever country you now live in, anti-multiculturism" ? Whether uou + I like it or not , Racist/nationalism is no longer fashionable. . BTW - who are these people who you call "Greeks " ? "The name "Greece" was imposed on the modern Greek Kingdom by the Great Powers Britain, France and Russia. Modern day "Greece" is nothing more than a 19th Century creation. .
That bunch of drooling, violent fascist scum shouldn't be allowed anywhere near normal people. We saw how ultra nationalism perverted Germany, and sowed the seeds of a world war. Do we really want to see that again? Stamp them out like the bastard maggots they are, before they start breeding. Cynically distributing food in the hope it'll buy them votes is about as low and conniving as you can get. And if you think they're doing it from altruism you're out of your mind.
You do realize that the socialists were not without their share of blame for the conflict? The problems that led to the war was the large-scale immigration of Polish Jews into germany that had been allowed during the preceding decades, as well as waves of other immigrants which resulted in poverty, and resulting high levels of unemployment. Another cause for the war which cannot be ignored is the huge government debt, which burdened the german economy. And yes, the higher fertility rates of these immigrants played a role in the problems and resentment: These are all things that the socialists are currently creating in Europe. Seem like the same mistakes may be repeated all over again, for the simple reason that Europe refuses to recognize what actually led to the war, and has instead been using the stock market crash and the Nationalists as convenient scapegoats. (not saying that the stock market crash played no part, but the bubble did mask the other problems for many years, so when all this imaginary wealth finally dissappeared, the west had to face the effects of all the poverty they had brought in during the boom, all that cheap labor)
A Greek far-right MP has reportedly accidentally struck a 12-year-old girl in an apparent attempt to attack the mayor of Athens. During mayor Giorgos Kaminis’ visit to a food giveaway in the capital, members of the far-right Golden Dawn party entered a distribution centre and reportedly moved towards him in a threatening manner. Despite police intervention, enraged MP Giorgos Germenis, in an apparent attempt to attack the mayor, accidentally hit a 12-year-old girl before being marched out of the building by security guards. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/farright-golden-dawn-mp-giorgos-germenis-hits-12yearold-girl-in-attack-on-athens-mayor-giorgos-kaminis-over-greekonly-food-handout-8600980.html
Ha ha, my Mother was one of 12 children and she was Irish for ever. Your quote So if Askenazi Jews were only doubling every generation and the Irish were up to six timing ever generation, what the hell was the holocaust doing in Germany if over breeding was the reason?
Bit of an overstate to go from a Mayor getting a dunt, to NAZI GERMANY. Cool yer jets man, have you seen what so called 'liberal democracy' has spawned? You sound violent, to be honest.
What led to the war was the rise to power of a mentally unbalanced megalomaniacal dictator, Adolf Hitler.
I'm old enough to have had parents who experienced the warm embrace of Nazism, and the likes of Golden Dawn and the British National Party need keeping a very close eye on. And no, Golden Dawn follow the same symbol-obsessed hard-right ideology as the Nazis did, and it's no stretch from Nazis strong-arming anyone they didn't like, to the Golden Dawn's thugs doing the same in Greece.
Why do you think the german people preferred war? Because the alternative option was perceived as even worse. Poverty, unemployment, seeing the country flooded with hoards of immigrants, this is what the socialists are now offering Europe.
This is patent nonsense and reeks of revisionism. Hitler wanted his war. The German people had no say in the matter.
No. You are just being silly and hysterical. - - - Updated - - - I don't, but then they were not asked, it was declared, wrongly imo, on them. However. None of that has anything to do with Greece.
Well it kind of does. The far right came to power in Germany in very similar circumstances. Golden Dawn are no different to the Nazis they model themselves on, right down to the fascist salutes. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=Go...ndsp=10&ved=1t:429,r:5,s:0,i:100&tx=134&ty=68
No. You are going way too far with your aggression and massive leaps of logic. If you cannot control your temper, don't engage in the topic, which was a Mayor getting a dunt.
There certainly has been plenty of revisionism in school textbooks... My father's caregiver was a woman who had fled germany after the American occupation. She told my grandmother that she had voted for Hitler in the elections. My grandmother, astounded how anyone could have voted for Hitler, asked why she had voted the way she did. The german woman simply explained, "It was either him or the Communists."
No it's Mr Hoveland who said that but you are right it has nothing to do with Greece. However there is no doubt these Golden Dawn are thugs and are indeed bribing the old, the sick and the poor while attacking anyone who looks different. Hopefully Greece will get rid of them soon. Last time I looked they seemed to be strong in the police which is a cause of concern. Greece though does have a genuine problem with illegal immigrants with them arriving there first and in the present climate she doesn't seem very able to cope. I think it might be an idea if we all took a responsibility for this.
In the top 100 thuggish types, they would not even make it in. The London Gov would though, and they are voted in, wear expensive suits, and went to fancy schools.
