Texas had a Valentine's Day Massacre this year. Folks depending on medical equipment died, some folks died from the cold. The official number is 210, but a review of deaths around this time versus previous years show it's probably closer to 800. The reason why folks died is because the Texas power grid has a significant Green Energy component. Wind turbines account for 23% of the independent Texas grid and 78% of that capacity was offline. Far more complicated that that. Most of Texas staying off the national grid is olympic style cheapskatery, just like those cheapskates who left themselves vulnerable to the outrageous electric bills just so they could save a few bucks during fair weather and gas providers signed up to save themselves a few bucks by enrolling a lot of their distribution equipment in a program that allowed that equipment to have electricity service automatically switched off during peak demand.
