The article says the the money is not reaching them fast enough not that it isn't being paid.
The article also says that money is pledged not that it has actually been recieved.

As usual with these stories there is a disconect between a journalists knee-jerk reaction and what may or may not be happening. It would have been more interesting to read how much money has been obtained from the amount actually pledged and to what or whom it has been paid to and for what purpose. The terms of reference for the charitiy will determind how the cash is used (like London Emergencies Trust mentioned in the article) thus it is more interesting to see what charities have been set up and what their purpose is and how they vet claims and claimants. I don't imagine that any bozo can turn up and same "yeah like I'm from Grenfell towers gimme the cash like innit! I would expect their is some form of process they have to go through.

    Ah the blitz spirit.....

You make some good points; as with everything in this dysfunctional country now, the exercise was probably bureaucratised out-of-sight and got bogged down in effing paperwork. And call me a cynic, but when there's so much money swilling around in these spontaneous appeals, it's extremely easy to er, lose some?
