You might be surprised to learn that I agree with 99% of your post. I am married to a Chinese national. She didn't immigrate here for the weather. She came to escape a totalitarian regime and to create a new life for herself in the land of the free. I have been to China and seen firsthand the overt racism towards the West that is so prevalent there. I pull no punches in my own critique of the CCP.

However, none of that matters when it comes to the name of a disease. A name has been thoroughly vetted and adopted by every international agency responsible for such things. That name is COVID-19, and it will remain COVID-19 for the remainder of history. Nothing you, Steve N, or anybody else does or says will change this simple fact. Insisting on calling it anything other than COVID-19 is a sad and silly attempt at changing the narrative to be more condemning of China. NEWSFLASH: There is not a person on this planet that doesn't understand the origins of the virus. But, we don't name new diseases by their country of origin anymore. That, too, is a simple fact.

No one one this board, or anywhere else, is too naive to understand the politically covert, veiled, and racist reasons why some childishly insist on calling it China Virus, WuFlu, Kong Flu, or anything but COVID-19, the internationally recognized designation.

It is entirely possible that the next virus released into the world may originate from somewhere in the Americas like the Louisiana swamps. And you and I both know that Steve N, and others, are never going to call that the Louisiana Virus. Although racists elsewhere may insist on doing so.
