Growing Disapproval of Protests Against Police

I read only the first couple of pages of this thread so I don't know if someone has made this point:

Meanwhile, have you all noticed that the Minneapolis City Counsel is walking back the "defund the police" idea? I knew it from the beginning; I said, this is political posturing; there will be no true defunding of the police given that it is boneheaded and cities implementing it are asking for trouble.

So, right after this idea surfaced I saw a YouGov poll saying that 84% of Americans opposed it; the other 16% were in favor or had no opinion. Therefore, it's political suicide, and after all the brouhaha it looks like the idiots responsible for this idea are slowly and discreetly walking away from it. How do you go into an election season by championing something that 84% of the population is against???

Similarly, support for these protests is dwindling. I always thought that this was suicidal behavior by the Democrats who supported this. Democrats from the beginning should have strongly said at all opportunities and all levels of government "we do not support riots, looting, arson, violence, and everybody who engages in any of it must be arrested, indicted, and prosecuted to the full extent of the law." The Democrats allowed the G.O.P. to drive the narrative and passively accepted the label of anarchists who don't want law and order, which frightens all suburban voters.

The Democrats seemed to be cruising to victory in November when this s.... started, giving ammunition to the opposition. Democrats have an uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

It is as accurate today as it was when it happened. Wikipedia does its best to edit history. Likely that works for you, but it doesn't work for me and many others.

Dick & Dubya lied to the American people and then joked about it. Perhaps you were just a child then, but I was not. Curveball led our "intelligence agencies" around like the Pied Piper, and Colin Powell and the American people followed, singing joyfully.

 

I didn't hear it from wiki, I watched it happen and remember the big switch the Democrats made. They haven't changed much, they still make up their own reality.

 

I think the decline in popularity can be attributed to several things:

1) People are sick of the mob violence and lawlessness

2) People are seeing crime rise in their neighborhoods

3) More and more people are finding out what BLM really is



4) More and more people are seeing the virulent racism of many of BLM's members and the haters associated with it

Early on, many of the protesters were ordinary people expressing their displeasure over George Floyd's death and the real or perceived racism within our nation's police departments, but now most of them are the trained Marxist and Anarcho-Marxist astroturf in BLM, ANSWER, AntiFa, et al, that have been driving the violence from the beginning. It's no surprise that support has dropped - the question has been when it would drop.

 

If you really don't understand the deceptions used to take the country to war then, you live in a different reality than I do.

The trained Marxists in BLM are BLA and Black Panther wannabes and Castro admirers.

It's remarkable how they have conned and cowed so many ignorant people. It's not like BLM's ideology and agenda have been a mystery over the past 5+ years - they've been quite open about it. If anyone has concealed their identity it's their comrades in the LW MSM.
