Its not sarcasm. If you think you're not living in a free country I encourage you to go try your (*)(*)(*)(*) in east bum(*)(*)(*)(*)istan or numerous other nations worldwide. We have freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, due process ETC. Despite some breaches we are still a free country. For now. I'm not saying we're not in danger of losing those freedoms and should not defend them. I'm saying we do still possess them.

Anyone watching Hollywood movies for the last decade has seen countless incarnations of the Warrior Woman. It's become a cinematic cliche. In most recent movies with fighting and violence there's at least one ferocious woman who's as much a killer as any man. Even though this fits lib ideology, I think there's a deeper reason - commerce, i.e., the capitalism of the producers. Young men (the intended audience) like violence. Young men like hot babes (more accurate than the bland generic "sex"). So hot killer babes are the perfect commercial vehicle, combining violence and lust in one easily marketable package. To paraphrase Mr. T, I pity the poor fool that thinks female killers advance feminism. Feminism is advanced when feminine values are celebrated. Hollywood's killer babes are a young male fantasy concocted for money.

 

Threads like this make me wonder why I bother.

Anyways, The Avengers was a sausage fest minus The Black Widow. This movie was a sausage fest minus Gamora and the few scenes of Nebula. Gamora was the only female superhero in the movie. In the comics, she's the most bad ass chick in the universe, but they actually scaled her powers a bit. Sure, they made Starlord a seriously flawed character, but that only made his character more appealing as he progressed through the movie and became a hero. All the characters were heroes. There is nothing wrong with female superheroes.

 

Interestingly enough, with Sarah Palin, it goes the other way around. There seems to be a different standard applied to liberals when it comes to her. It's perfectly ok to make jokes about someone raping her underage daughter or if someone takes a poop on Sarah Palin's face.
