A background check is so easy to get around, and so impossible to enforce, they are virtually worthless.
and it doesnt prevent them from getting guns ultimately, especially since almost none of them are prosecuted for trying to buy from a dealer. what we do know is that it has denied thousands of lawful gun owners from being able to exercise their rights due to mistake. so its not worth the cost since there is no evidence the background checks have prevented substantive crimes and given the federal government's sloth and lack of effort in prosecuting those committing perjury and attempt, its idiotic to try to expand this program
your definition of "easily" applies to murder and robbery too if the threat of years in prison doesn't matter, then you can claim its easy to commit murder why should the malum prohibitum crime of a felon buying a gun require more government effort to stop than murder or robbery?
if that were true, you could point to studies showing that violent gun crime had decreased due to the brady bill you cannot so your claim is specious. Criminals generally don't want their name tied to weapon since its a federal felony for them to possess a weapon. If a felon buys a gun at a gun shop, the 4473 ties his name to that weapon since the weapon and its serial number is listed on the 4473. so criminals who plan on using a firearm to facilitate a crime almost always use weapons that cannot be tied to them that way
Right !!!! The Second Amendment says: "The Right to keep and bear Arms will be subject to Government approval, by means of a Government issued license, for which a fee shall be charged, as set by the Government." Not what we commonly read: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Now if all power and authority not given to the Federal Government is reserved to the States, why are television and Radio Stations licensed by the Federal Government and not the States ? And why is there truly no freedom of speech on T.V or Radio ? Under the First Amendment ???
You don't seem to understand that the concept of the right to privacy is implied in numerous rights and the enumerated list isn't anything like the final word on what rights there are see 9 and 10. You're part of the problem. Abortion stops at viability. Viability is already weeks back from where it was first assessed in Roe v Wade. As technology increases viability will continue to push back toward conception. That is literally the best shot there is at ending the practice. Use your brain. It took an amendment to ban alcohol. Why was that exactly? Use your brain. The same commerce expansion that powers the controlled substances act powers the NFA, and the Hughes amendment to FOPA. Use your brain.
Do not be an obtuse Ninny, I have never been in favor of abridgment or limiting Rights, if you did USE your brain, you would clearly see the Federal Government clearly regulates areas that were left to the States and in some cases controlled by both.
why? if criminals get the guns anyway? and do you like the fact that many honest people are denied or delayed sales improperly? you seem to think that the issue is people having guns rather than misusing guns
well we know none of those who are prosecuted can but since that leaves 99.9% free, they can all do that. what we DO KNOW is that the Background checks have not proven useful in DECREASING VIOLENT crime to those of us who aren't anti gun-the evaluation is based on DOES THE LAW INCREASE PUBLIC SAFETY? since the answer is clearly NO, when it comes to background checks, then its our opinion the such checks are feel good wastes of time and money to anti gunners the question is-DOES THE LAW APPEAR TO DO SOMETHING THAT ALLOWS ANTI GUN POLITICIANS THE ABILITY TO PANDER TO THE PUBLIC and yes, the background checks do that-hence the anti gun movement finds those laws successful. Since the law also harasses honest citizens with improper delays and denials, its seen as even more successful
I personally think we should keep child molesters in jail. Why are you so in favor of letting them roam the streets?
That is more assembly as opposed to speech. Anyone may stand on the mall without a permit and speak their mind. Your analogy is a fail. Also the mall is not one's private property. A right ceases to be a right when it is licensed or permitted.
Again, Cocaine and Heroin and Methamphetamines and a long grocery list of illegal drugs and can be bought from illegal drug dealers, and they also promote Prostitution, and one stop shopping for all illegal items, guns too.... Cash only...
When an anti-gun Liberal says "buying a gun" they conflate it like someone who conflates owning an "exotic animal" like a iguana with those who own a tiger. <Mod Edit> mixing in approximately 21,000 suicides with 11,00+ murders to imply that Americans are killing over 33,000 fellow Americans each year. <Rule 2> These deaths consisted of 11,208 homicides, 21,175 suicides, 505 deaths due to accidental or negligent discharge of a firearm
A good reason for the Federal government to stop being a Nanny, legalize those things and let "We,the People" tax it.
