I don't think that it's a racist comment, I think it's a stupid comment. I've often wondered why hispanics vote Democrat and the only answer I can think of is "free stuff". They are overwhelmingly Catholic and anti-abortion. Generally work hard, and generally conservative in their family settings. Hispanics seem conflicted on border issues though. Mostly, they oppose open border policies that take away their jobs yet seem to be fine with letting people stay once they are here. It's a weird dichotomy. Overall and as a group, they seem to be a swing demographic.

 

Fair enough.. we can disagree on the content while agreeing it's not remotely racist..

Obviously, Reids comments have since been overshadowed by much worse comments about Hispanics from a GOP representative..
