People have the right to object to whatever they want. Especially if it's happening in the home they are living in.

It's seems as if you wish to vilify the roommates for not wanting to live in a house with loaded firearms.

Just because you may choose to do so doesn't mean that everyone should feel the same way.

Sorry but loaded unsecured guns left in an open room when the owner was gone for the weekend does not meet my standard of responsible gun owner behavior. If the roomates could find them any visiting drunk or druggy could have done the same. And don't even begin to tell me Harvard students don't party hearty and have friends that do the same,.

Note that her roomates who she barely knew had access to her room and the guns. Just doesn't sound like responsible gun ownership to me!

" What I find uncomfortable is coming home to find out that six people I barely know went into my bedroom without permission and went through every single one of my drawers, without any regard to my privacy whatsoever,"

Do you have the police report? I don't even quite understand how they got involved. Did the roomates call the police and the police see the guns in the location and condition the roomates found them in?

And firearms with built in locks? Maybe they exist but Somehow that seems a bit dubious. Maybe the police are confusing locks with safeties.

Or wear a sign on their back saying they have an STD? Nobody's business unless that person has unprotected sex without telling the partner.

"I tend to believe they were out to get her for the reasons they stated: she was from Alabama and had a MAGA hat.
    It fits the profile."

Fist I would be livid if someone rummaged through my stuff. It sounds like the search was pretty extensive. A Maga hat isn't a reason to search through another persons property.

The landlord said that she could stay but if the other tenants moved out she would be stuck with the 6000 rent payment to pay by herself. I wondered why he would let her out of the lease if they stayed but he wouldn't let her out of the lease if they moved. He had a binding agreement with the other roommates. I would have told all of the roommates that they would all be held to their lease and to get over it.

The guns could have been locked with trigger locks.

The gun owner said "While an undergrad, she said she was in a physically abusive relationship. She said the experience is part of what drives her to be armed."

No wonder the other house mates did not feel safe. Anyone who has an argument with her would fear for their life especially if drink is involved

Where did the article say the guns were loaded? It didn't. It also didn't say they were unsecured. Manufacture **** out of thin air much?

    From the article:

"When I asked them why they were in my room to begin with, they each came up with completely contradicting stories (none of which made any sense), but one comment struck me in particular: ‘We saw that you had a MAGA hat and come on, you're from Alabama… so we just kind of assumed that you had something,'" she said. "I asked why they didn't just call me and ask me before intruding.

In the letter attached on the first page it said that the guns were kept loaded and unlocked.

The landlord did not say that. He said that the remaining tenants would have to fill the empty room(s)

    No kidding.

Taking a MAGA Hat to Harvard is like taking a Confederate Flag to a NAACP Convention.

That Alabama Girl just not be the sharpest tool in the shed.:smfh:

Yes, not only did she have more than one gun, her reasons she gave for having the guns points to her being very unstable.

Would you rape her if she was running around naked?

Are you related to Trump who immediately had sexual thoughts after seeing a 10 year old girl going onto an escalator?

In the three states I know of, a landlord can evict a tenant anytime they wish proper notice (30 or 60 days depending of the state and how long they have stayed, subject to a specific lease, and the usual prohibition of not discriminate against sex, race, religion etc.

These discussions are silly about whether its ok to have firearms. A landlord can evict a tenant for having purple curtains, or no reason at all!

30 days (or 60) and be out! That's the property owners right in California.
