nobody in their right mind would fly on a plane that didn't at least have a pilot in the cockpit. no matter how hopeless an emergency is, they can count on the human to try.
i don't know about all that. working with people requires being able to work with people, a skill that not a lot of engineers have.
That's emotion talking. And it's why pilots still exist, the reality is that the autopilots these days are so advanced that they can (and frequently do) take the plane from gate to gate. Humans are no where near as capable, in fact in certain weather conditions, if you're using an autopilot you'd be allowed to land whereas a human would not.
This one will be different. We have already seen technology is 1.) eliminating more jobs than it is creating. and 2.) most of the jobs created are not as well paying as the jobs eliminated.
We're talking 20-30 years from now...technological advancements often happen exponentially. Just compare computers today to 1984.
funny you should say 1984. that's the year i as introduced to DOS. you can still see it on start up if your eyes are fast enough. the only fundamental difference between those main frame work stations and your desktop is flashier graphics.
