3rd party candidates are a real problem for both Hillary and Trump. Stein will probably totally take away from Hillary, and Johnson will probably get some nevertrumpers.

From the perspective of the person casting the vote, voting for Gary Johnson is strictly voting for Gary Johnson. But typically, libertarians generally lean right on the political spectrum, so by that logic, if there were no libertarian candidate on the ballot, they'd support the Republican. So given that, while it's still not a vote for Hillary, it is 1 less for Trump, and in a worse case scenario, it helps grease the wheels of a Hillary Presidency.

The same could be said of Jill Stein, except instead of Trump being affected, it's Hillary.

I think people need to quit acting as if there's another option. Come November, it's either going to be Hillary or Trump, so you'd be wise to put some input in on how you are governed.

    Good point......
and I sent off an e-mail to The Donald's team that could
be very useful in Florida if either Jill Stein or Gary Johnson were to
promote this alternative way to address climate change that would obviously
make life safer for residents of Florida, New Orleans, New Jersey, New York
or for California, New Mexico and Nevada where large scale desalination could
    greatly improve the economy.

Johnson has much that appeals to those that watched Hillary Clinton screw Bernie Sanders out of the nomination.

Good, I am sick and tied of the two major party monopoly on our election system. Especially since each gave us two no good for nothing except make themselves rich, egotistical bums which don't give a darn about this country.

The two party system worked great when 80% of the electorate identified themselves with those parties and only 18% as independents. But today according to Gallup, the electorate is made up of 42% independents while 58% still identify with the two major parties. There are more independents than Democrats which are 32% of the total electorate or Republicans, 27%. Its time for a change. I hope both parties make the threshold. Its about time that all of America knows there are other choices out there besides the R and the D.

What if you detest both major party candidates? What if in your good conscious you could never vote for either? Third party candidates gives one another option besides staying home. I suppose one could just write in Gaylord Cumquat or someone else. I could never vote for either, Why try to make someone vote for a candidate they don't like and have no use for, one they totally oppose? Why should one have to choose between two candidates one thinks are evil?

Just because the Republican Party which makes up 27% of the electorate or the Democratic Party which makes up 32% says to the 42% of the electorate which are independent, you have no choice but to pick one of our candidates? We don't care what you think of them, whether you think they would or wouldn't make a good president or drive this country to ruin, you must pick your own poison. Sounds very authoritarian to me. Like the two major parties are trying to become dictators, do as I say or vote as I say or be hung at daybreak, shot, guillotined.

Where do you suppose we live, Russia under Stalin or something akin to that?

Because the nation has been brainwashed into thinking there is some significant difference between Red and Blue.

I'm OK with that. Incumbent benefits are a problem at many levels.
