I just did by putting the burden on others to actually put forth a bit of effort to increase their knowledge. Saves me some work and the lazy posters get the internal reward of actually doing something other than making ignorant posts on this forum.

Medicaid? Actually I was in high school when liberal Democrat Lyndon Johnson put this socialistic program into being.

When you mash all the air bubbles out of it, Medicaid is nothing but another damned Democrat handout welfare program for people who don't pay their own medical bills, isn't it...? I didn't need the Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, that I would earn later in the University of Texas at Austin, to understand what Medicaid is....

But, O Learned One, if you think that Medicaid is something different from that, please -- enlighten us all....

No way I can enlighten someone who thinks they know everything. That said this statement by you does achieve a new level of ignorance.

" For those who won't, or simply don't pay for their medical bills, prescriptions, etc., there's always Medicaid. "

So... you have nothing to contribute toward my 'boundless ignorance' of what Medicaid is...? Why am I not astonished....

I identified it as just another damned Democrat welfare program, and you can't provide further details? Good for you, because, indeed, when you mash all the bullshit out of it, that's all it is -- JUST ANOTHER DAMNED DEMOCRAT WELFARE PROGRAM.

OK, next... shall we talk about EBT cards? That probably won't take any longer to discuss, either....

Nah, it is not really my job to educate the totally ignorant. Any stupid fool that doesn't actually understand what the criteria are to get Medicaid is beyond contempt or education.

Clumsy evasion. Suit yourself. Like I said, when you remove all the bullshit, all Medicaid boils down to is just another damned Socialist-Democrat welfare program. I was less interested in your rationalizations about how Medicaid could be confused with anything else than I was curious to see if you'd at least try to say something that made sense, instead of just trying to pose as someone too well-educated to deal with the 'likes' of moi.

The larger question that has gone unanswered, of course, is, given that taxpayers of the United States were already saddled with paying to provide 'Medicaid' to those who won't/don't pay their own medical bills (since 1965), WHY, on top of Medicaid did we have to have Obamacare thrown on our backs, too...?! To a Democrat, though, it's a moot-point, because in their minds, the MORE government handout welfare programs, the BETTER! :hippie:

[IMG]. But we need a Ph. D to understand this?! :roflol:

I am to educated to deal with someone who says the stupid things you do about Medicare. To quote something incredibly stupid that you keep repeating I assume in the hopes that if you keep saying something really ignorant enough times it becomes true.

" For those who won't, or simply don't pay for their medical bills, prescriptions, etc., there's always Medicaid. "

Go to the internet. Look up how to qualify for Medicaid and then stop making incredibly stupid statements and then if you want we can discuss why it always seems to be those who don't earn enough to pay taxes are always the most concerned about tax money going to help others.

STOP! Nowhere did I say one (ONE) word about "Medicare". Now you're trying to put words in my mouth did I did not (NOT) say! Moreover, restating something that is factual does not make it less valid.... I know exactly what "Medicare" is because the all-powerful, largely unconstitutional central-government that all you socialists love so much forces people to enlist in it when they turn 65 years old! Wisdom: Medicare is an EARNED entitlement, but Medicaid is NOT! :omg:

In theory, states can "charge" Medicaid recipients for various services, in varying amounts (the less money you make, the less you pay)... but "because Medicaid covers particularly low-income and often very sick patients, services cannot be withheld for failure to pay...." Link: https://www.medicaid.gov/medicaid/cost-sharing/out-of-pocket-costs/index.html . In other words, as I have already said, twice, Medicaid is " just another damned Socialist-Democrat welfare program...." This is funny. You refused to "educate" me, so, I "educated" you instead! :roflol: .

Now that we've dug into what Medicaid is, tell me, O Learned One, what in hell did the United States of America ever need to have all the fraud, lies, and deceit of an "Obamacare" bureaucracy for...?! :unclesam: And if Obamacare isn't a pack of lies and fraud, then where is the $2,500 that I was supposed to save each and every year Obamacare is in existence?! Surely you remember your wonderful ex-prez "Messiah" telling us all THAT?!

[IMG]. OK, now that you're 'educated', here's your reading assignment....

You are correct. The stupid things you said were about Medicaid as the quote I posted shows . And the fact that you cannot even begin to defend your stupid statement is quite telling about your honesty.

The vouchers, limited to 1% of the taxes collected, aren't enough to fund health care so it fails from the very beginning.

Although the vouchers alone won't fund health care services there are households with enough income to make up the difference between the voucher amount (or pay the full amount using private insurance) and the actual cost so the vouchers won't impose any limitations that would control costs.

Except for the VA the federal government doesn't provide any "public" health care services and the VA hospital and clinic system is a non-profit system limited to use by veterans and sometimes their family members.

We can also note that 72% of full time working adults have company provided group insurance that funds medical services typically including health, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage, and it's the "best insurance" on the market today (far superior to any government health insurance program). Why would we want to do anything that could negatively effect employer provided group health insurance? What would make sense is seeing if we can increase the 21% of part time workers that are currently receiving company provided group health insurance.

I would suggest doing a little research and then going back to the drawing board to come up with something realistic.

Medicare in not an "entitlement" because no one has a "right to Medicare" in the United States.

Medicare (and Social Security) were both created as "pay-as-you-go" welfare programs by Congress. No one is "entitled" to these programs that can be modified or terminated at any time by Congress. Like all welfare programs the taxpayer does not "earn a right to benefits" based upon the taxes they pay because those taxes are spent on other individuals. Once again Congress could terminate both Social Security and Medicare tomorrow and the entire Social Security Trust Fund, that's accumulated excess tax revenues in the past, could simply be dissolved reducing the national debt by $2.8 trillion. No one has any "rights" associated with the Social Security (FICA/Payroll/Self-Employment) taxes they're been responsible for.

Political conservatives are misusing the word "entitlement" in addressing Social Security, Medicare, or other "welfare programs" that exist at the discretion of Congress. They're also lying with they state that a person has "earned' any benefits related to these "pay-as-you-go" welfare programs.

Medicaid is a voluntary state run welfare program that receives partial funding from the federal government.
The states are responsible for the "welfare of the People" under the US Constitution while the federal government is responsible for the "welfare of the states" under the Constitution. By providing funding for the state run programs the federal government is in compliance with the US Constitution because the federal government not providing any direct financial benefit to the "person" but instead is providing funding to the "state" for the "welfare of the state" that in turn uses that funding for a Constitutional purpose.

Using revenue collected as taxation from a capitalistic economy is not "socialism" by any definition and the political conservatives are misusing the term socialism.

"Self-education" can often result in failure because many people fail to do the proper research into a subject to obtain a clear understanding and knowledge of the subject..

The above is the actual truth about Medicare and Medicaid and sources for this information are readily available on the internet (or I will provide them if contacted by PM). Hopefully based upon accurate knowledge the terms being used and an understanding of what's being addressed will be more accurate in the future.

The truth is that you don't what you posted. You called Medicaid "Medicare" because you got too excited to pay enough attention to WHAT you were writing. And now, you're just blowing bubbles.

After you've finished your assigned reading, then read Orwell's masterpiece, "1984", so that you can see just exactly what a ruined socialistic country that's dominated by a tyrannical central government is capable of doing.... Is that your idea of "Utopia"...? I haven't lied about anything, and, Medicaid is exactly as I described it... I gave you a link to an official Medicaid website! Are you accusing the government of stupidity and insincerity, too? :spin:

The only way you can escape being forced to enroll in Medicare when you turn 65 is to already be enrolled in private health insurance PRIOR to the day you turned 65. Gotcha this time, Shiva... I've been there and done that. And believe me, you MUST be able to PROVE that you were enrolled in private health insurance without any lapse in coverage prior to your 65th birthday, or when you DO enroll in Medicare, they'll punish you with a penalty for the rest of you life. Go spend several hours in a Social Security office like I did, trying to get clarification, before you tell me how wrong I am. I've LIVED it, because as I've told you numerous times before... I'm an old guy!

Medicaid, however, is voluntary. Nobody is forced by the government to enroll for Medicaid handouts. And who does? Those who don't or won't pay their own medical expenses. That, sir, is the TRUTH of the matter, and if you deny it, you'd better have links to credible sources. Get it fixed in your mind -- nobody forces you to suck on a welfare-straw. When you decide to suck, it is your decision entirely!

Sure coming from sombody that thinks all you have to do to get Medicaid is just not pay your bills I am sure that I will learn something. And we don't have a tyrannical central government we have an Oligarchy.

Wrong. You can opt out of Medicare part A simply by not enrolling in Social Security. Since you hate government programs so much that should be a no brainer for you.

Oh, golly gosh darn! You're right! All you have to do to avoid enrolling in Medicare Part "A" is to let the government KEEP all the Social Security benefits you've EARNED after you've been forced to pay into it for decades.... Why didn't I think of that...?

Even if I were a multi-millionaire instead of just barely being a "beginner" millionaire, I wouldn't let the f*cking, stinking, rotten, tyrannical, central government keep all my SS money. I haven't taken a penny in SS benefits yet, but when I do I'll sink my claws in DEEP, and demand every penny that I am entitled to. After all, if you're forced, and threatened by the law for non-compliance, to participate in a publicly-mandated retirement system, you'd be a fool not to 'maximize' this mandatory investment in yourself....

Medicaid, however, is an entirely different creature altogether -- and I'm still waiting for the first of you Leftist theoreticians to tell me why we needed to have an 'Obamacare' piled on top of the Medicaid burden we were already saddled with since 1965...(?). And not one of you will admit that Medicaid is really nothing more than handout WELFARE, when you mash all the fluff, guff, and air bubbles out of it.

True story: a good friend of mine had to have a LOT of dental work, including extraction of about thirteen teeth, and replacement of them with two different partial dentures (upper and lower). Even though he had private dental insurance, it ended up costing him over ten thousand dollars, out of his own pocket! A part-time worker in the same company as my friend was on Medicaid, and he was having approximately the very same kind of dental work done, including upper and lower partial dentures. This part-time worker ended up paying NOTHING! He got ALL but a pittance of the expense paid for by you, me, and my friend who had to shell out the ten grand. But that's just FINE with Socialist-Democrats... right? Do you know what a PARASITE is?

Hey, I was just pointing out that your statement was incorrect. Don't blame me because you were wrong. And since you don't want to opt out of SS which you at least partially paid for why would you want to opt out of Medicare which you also contributed to.

And if your friend thinks being on Medicaid is so wonderful I am certain he could quit his job and become poor.

And, using the same logic, you could force yourself to die of drowning by refusing to breath air. Yes, jester, there's always some kind of alternative.

Frankie Roosevelt and his Democrat mob gave birth to Social Security in the 1930's. Neither you nor I was even alive then, and all we could do was play by the rules. Frankie's star-pupil, Lyndon Johnson and his Democrat Mob gave birth to Medicare and Medicaid in the mid-1960's. Nothing you or I could do about that, either. I'm wasting my breath. No matter how hard you try to have a really nice picnic, there will always be bugs and flies. Maybe when everything at the 'picnic' is crawling with the sons-of-bitches, and there's nothing left for the people who brought the food to eat, you'll consider what I've said in a different light. If not, then to hell with it. I can lead a horse to water, but I can't make the poor, dumb bastard DRINK....

Your right the only people in my state on Medicaid are poor seniors in various Medicare/Medicaid joint programs or more likely in a nursing home though some tricks can let you get into that with assets moved around if planned, pregnant women while pregnant and a period after and the disabled deemed by the Social Security Agency to be disabled a year or longer and unable to work and for that you need to go through reviews and maybe see a judge. I was accepted into it on my first appeal by the fact I had over eight doctors and their doctor say I was unemployable to their low income standard of the Federal Poverty line and reports from the state Vocational Rehab agency and the disability review of the county post-secondary adult technical college PTEC's own experts including instructors who were IN various areas of work professionally. They all agreed even with help I wasn't very likely to work again to the income of the Federal Poverty line a pretty simple bar when they compared me to fit and abler people I would be up against. Businesses are not charities they might hire a disabled person but its usually to get tax breaks and to get a reliable worker over being nice but they won't give a job if its going to be to much of a problem to do so long term. So I got on SSI which gave me automatic Medicaid enrollment and access to other programs like SNAP and am up for reviews my first was a year after determination, my next one is now in a year and a half (three years from my last review) then if determined I got no better or got worse they will then likely extend that five to seven years for the next review if seven its presumed permanent disability to be in place.

Its only for people in income when it was expanded but I have to stay poor to keep my benefits.

Got to wonder why some people just don't care to use their taxes to help people who need help when they are perfectly comfortable spending trillions to kill people in a foreign country.

You are obviously one of the pathetic ones who can't ever earn enough to care about others. Live in your own petty little world and try to be happy with your self centered little being.

Even a hard-rock fiscal Conservative will agree with you completely about this! Surprised?

These "social programs" have been in existence for decades, and, as originally intended, they were put into place to help American citizens who cannot (CANNOT) provide adequately for themselves. People with birth defects, debilitating diseases, terrible injuries, and other verifiable, ongoing inabilities to work. And for those unfortunate people even a hard-hearted, mean old bastard like me says that we should support those citizens of the United States every single day of their lives if necessary! Surprised? I mean it... even "welfare-for-life" -- BUT -- only for those citizens who truly (TRULY) deserve to be given it....

What many of us on the Right object to are the slackers, frauds, liars, and scammers who collect immense amounts of handout welfare, year after year, that they never should have been given in the first place, and for no good reason. But, shoveling out welfare indiscriminately is the Democrat Party's "stock-in-trade", and it has been ever since the great Socialist-Democrat, Frankie Roosevelt propped up the beginnings of the Welfare State in this country in the 1930's -- long before anyone in this Forum was even alive. Good and evil, we're all stuck with it now, and it cannot be changed. But, it could be greatly improved, and focused on those who deserve the help!

Thus, if we NEED to enlarge Medicaid to cover the NEEDS of people who truly deserve the help -- then, fine! And at the same time, we should go through all those signed up for welfare programs, find the frauds and slackers, and throw their asses OUT! Too bad if they've been sucking on a welfare teat so long that they don't know how to do anything. Too bad if through rotten, corrupted personal mistakes that they made in life they've now got too many "issues" to support themselves. The frauds and slackers can "die in a ditch" for all I care -- but we should take care of those who CANNOT support themselves.

And, oh, BTW, a good way to be able to come up with the money to pay for taking care of those who deserve help would be to stop (STOP) wasting lives and treasure on foreign "adventures" that have brought nothing on this country but debt, misery, and pointless loss of every kind. Why didn't ex-prez "Messiah" get us totally out of Iraq and Afghanistan as he repeatedly promised he would as far back as 2008? :fingerscrossed:

Can we at least agree on that much...? :peace:

Roughly $10 for every man, women and child if you leave out the illegals. Would do miracles for the band-aid industry. But the real number would be $32 billion, enough for a few office visits.
