You make no sense. Pointing out how the Dims and MSM were attempting to politicize something is not itself politicizing it, it is merely pointing it out.

No, it is doing the very thing you claim they are doing, not least because what you claim is itself a political position.

You can choose not to politicise this. So can everyone else on the internet. Not one is forcing you to do it, and the behaviour of others does not absolve you of responsibility for your own behaviour. Let them crawl around in the sewage. No need to add to their numbers.

Like I said, you are choosing to play politics with this.

BTW, if you would like I can dig up the dozens & dozens of threads on Ebola started by right wingers on this board in 2014. Almost without exception they were attempts to score political points before the mid-terms. Based on that would it be fair to attribute your behaviour to your political persuasion?

It was a worldwide story only because the Chinese Government continues to prove it cannot be trusted in the international community. There's nothing Trump could have done to avert this disaster. As it is however, it was overstated for political purposes and I do agree that understating it for the same purposes isn't a "higher ground."

The best thing we can do is keep it in prospective. It's a new corona virus, but our medical people will eventually find a vaccine and treatment for it, even if in a couple of years. And if it has the same behavioral characterization of the flu, that means as flu season dies down and as it gets warmer, we should be getting better.

They work better over time. The decimals and the numerical data will be a whole lot more precise by mid-July
in the Milwaukee river basin. Better at WHO, too.

There's one near me. They've been carrying them out feet first for as long as I can remember. Gravity always wins in the end. You lay down, and you never get up to walk a step again. There's no way around it.

Trump was busy in TN where a lot more people died from tornadoes than did from this overblown hype fest.

This Trump's fault too? Perhaps the govt of WA state has some blame? Or local officials...seems this place had a history of issues...

Hmmm....a Trumpeteer appointee says that the figure will be less than 1%, and that received the worthy support of a right wing rag/blog. Ima impressed. Kinda pissed orf that the WHO obviously have no idea what they are talking about, bloody amateurs they be.

You cant have it both ways.

Either thereported number of cases is accurate or there are such a significant numbers of undiagnosed cases which push the mortality rates down to less than 1% (and thus the infection rate is much higher).

The fact that this virus is less deadly than SARs and MERs was always true and it is one of the reasons that this virus has spread so far, so quickly. SARs and MERs were self-limiting because they were so deadly.

And while I can appreciate the optimism associated with embracing a conclusion that the mortality is rate is ~1% instead of ~3%, that also means that the number of cases (and thus the infection rate) is also much, much higher.

Which would you prefer to have: A virus that kills 3% and spreads at 1.2 per patient or a virus that kills 1% and spreads at 3.6 per patient?

Can you tell us what the percentage would be if you included uncofirmed and unknown cases?

You already know that it is impossible to be certain of the percentage with an unknown denominator.

You have to make an estimate, but if you want to believe that mortality rate is closer to 1% because there are ~3x as many unknown cases, then are you really comforted?
