A high school basketball coach in Virginia has been fired after impersonating a 13-year-old player in a game.

Arlisha Boykins, a 22-year-old assistant coach on the Churchland junior varsity girls basketball team in Portsmouth, suited up for the Truckers while a teenage student-athlete was out of town at a club basketball tournament, parents of the girl told WAVY TV 10.

In video footage from the Jan. 21 game, which took place in Suffolk against Nansemond River, Boykins can be seen wearing a black No. 1 jersey for Churchland while playing in the contest.

Boykins, who was going up against 14-and-15-year-old girls, recorded a block and drove to the basket for a layup in highlights obtained by WAVY. She was also seen interacting with the team, shooting free throws and at one point, dove into the stands for a loose ball.

Hmmm. I really don't see the problem here. If we are going to allow men to slap on a wig and compete with females, why can't this lady declare she feels like a 13 year old and join the team? I would wager that a male on the female team makes a far greater impact.

You DON'T "see a problem" with 22 year olds competing with 14 and 15 year olds?
I would have to DISAGREE on that one...

In today's climate? Not at all. She probably felt 14 that day.

do you see a problem with males competing against females? If a man can claim to identify as a female, why can't an adult identify as a teen ?

    What's good for the goose.............

Because there are rules that stipulate players must be registered students at the school. As far as I know, ringers are not allowed. You cannot just identify as a teen. You have to be at the school, taking class and have grades above a certain threshold.

But if there is a student out there who wants to purposely get held back 5+ years to prove how rigged the system is and play against 14 year olds, more power to them!

Where is the culture war on students who do this?

It's odd to me (although it shouldn't be at this point) that the discussion is about a male posing as a female. What I took away from it was a coach showing the team that its okay to cheat.

I have heard of examples of cases like that involving birth certificate forgery where the child is still registered at the school.

The assistant coach was not a registered student though.

Yeah the cases with africans are often sports related.

It's not always Africans. Parents of high school students hold back their kids an extra year so they are bigger and stronger than the other kids they are competing against. A white friend of mine does this. Strangely, there is not rule or outrage against doing this.

The contest was between students of two schools.

SHE WAS NOT A STUDENT OF EITHER SCHOOL.

Please take your pathetic partisanship somewhere else.

Yeah the more high profile ones are african and basketball related. A 16 year old 7 footer is way more promising (apparently) than a 22 year old 7 footer. Im sure it happens more than i even know across the board.

It probably happens more often than we hear about. It seems like there is more outrage against rare cases of transgender athletes than there is against athletes who forge birth certificates to gain a competitive advantage.

The point didn't have to do with effort.

It had to do with breaking the rules for pure expediency.

It's like the Jan 6 insurgency.

It's like Trump pushing for elected officials to throw out enough legitimate ballots for him to win.

The USA stands for the rule of law.

YOU stand for the rule of crime.

I use to not be able to identify as whatever gender I wanted to be, but times seem to be changing . . .
