People become aware of the problem is a good think and perhaps that may have an effect non their politicians. It is hard to change the present setup after 60 years or so of teaching 'beliefs' rather than facts. It's continued bad news.

They are stupid but we are better off shredding them effortlessly in public than letting their views fester underground, unopposed.

Additionally, forbidden knowledge is inherently attractive.

Censorship has the opposite to desired consequence.

Yes, according to the ADL study I cited, roughly 54% of the wold's population ( approx. 7.7 billion) has not heard of the holocaust and of those who have, a vast majority of the remaining world's population does not believe the standard holocaust narrative (SHN).

I encourage everyone interested to read the entire article which further relates that younger generations are less likely to believe the SHN than those over 65 years old.

You're right, this information is, indeed, vexing to Westerners who believe that their views are universally held.

There's no denying that Jews were systematically targeted and killed.

What is debatable is the 6 million number.

Beyond that, the Soviets continued to kill jews as they made their way west.

The allies, specifically Eisenhower, was knowingly complicit in the deaths of approx. 2 million people who had fled the Soviet Union under the fog of war. Many had fought along side U.S. forces and supplied Intel to the U.S. Army.

Stalin considered them traitors and demanded they be rounded up and returned to him to be executed. Eisenhower complied despite knowing they would be killed by Stalin.

History is written by the victors. To find the truth requires some digging.

Believe what you like but the "6 million Jews" figure has been cited repeatedly since 1900.

This topic always flushes out the nutters & nasties. It is fascinating that the same people who deny an incredibly well documented event like the Holocaust will believe things for which there is vastly less proof simply because it suits their prejudices.

On the topic of the thread, the Principal was foolish and should have been clear about the factuality of the holocaust. His position carried considerable responsibility, so he is therefore required to think things like this through very carefully. A heavy price, but hardly surprising.

For those going on about 'PC' or ascribing this sort of problem to 'the left', don't forget that it is the right that has spent decades trying to force schools to include creationism in the science curriculum and 'teach the controversy' & remove references to slavery from textbooks. What happened here isn't remotely as bad as any of that.

You seem to know a bit about the workings of school administrations so I'll ask your opinion about Principal Latson's future.
Do you think that his career in education is finished?

I'v rethought my statement: "I sincerely believe that if Latson's remarks concerned any other topic, he would still have his job."
I'm sure that there are numerous remarks about many other topics that could have cost Latson his job. I simply feel that Latson's choice of words in this example were among some of the top career killers.

I'm of two minds on this. I agree with the above generally BUT there some things that aren't really so much supportive of what they actually say as much as the beginning of totally indefensible and morally repugnant statements that have no place in civilized discourse. The only way you can possibly accept Holocaust Denial is to also believe that Jews are really very evil people, and from that we get the slaughter of millions. Certain things are beyond the Pale ( how ironic that phrase in this context) and maybe should never see the light of day.

There are many things people should be aware of in education. The really odd thing is that charter schools are free of many of the requirements and regulations applied to public schools. Why not either apply the same requirements or get rid of them altogether?

I'm not against charter schools, but they are not all they're made out to be. I really like the idea that they don't have to wear that one-size-fits-all anchor that public schools do. The question is why we don't allow public schools to lose that anchor? In the area where I live, the state has allowed the district to essentially organize itself without all the top-heavy requirements imposed by the state on the other districts. The biggest problem so far is that no one really knows how to re-organize, so we're essentially staying with the old way.

The problem is that the wording of the OP suggests something that didn't really happen. The story seems to suggest this is all about being pc when there is way more to it.

The principal made a basic mistake by not passing the problem to the superintendent. The mom just wanted to bag a black guy.

Frankly I've had it up to my gizzard with the BS that the Jews are special victims. Countless other ethnic groups have suffered far greater genocides than they have and no one is whining about that. The so-called holocaust was part of he Zionist plan to steal Palestine and it worked.

The superintendent and the school board were apparently quite aware of the situation with this parent. Her involvement seems to have been going on for quite some time. As I see it, the principal was considered expendable in an attempt to please the parent.

Well, if they let him keep his pension and he's old enough, he might just say "Screw it," and retire. But on the other hand, he's a POC in education so all he has to do is look and there'll be a spot made for him somewhere. Not a value judgement, simply political reality, at least here in California. Considering how short we are - for some odd reason people just don't want to be teachers - he could get a job wherever he wants any time he wants.

    Fair enough.

    Thanks for your response.
    Please clarify: "POC in education..."
Even though one of my degrees is/was in English Ed., I'm not familiar with the term "POC".

Re: I am, however, very familiar with why few people want to be teachers and after a brief period of teaching, I discovered the secret to making quick and easy money at blacksmithing for a living.

Maybe you could teach a blacksmithing course at a community college? Totally different environment.
My degree was English Ed. also. Recently retired.

Can you show some of your work? I'd love to see it.

My understanding is that he was not fired, but moved to another position in the central office. After that, he quit. I've seen that happen many times. Given the constant turnover rate among the admin these days, he should have no trouble finding another job. Unless he's had enough of the nonsense.

As far as the teachers, I know that if I was just starting in today's world, I'd be looking for a new job fast. The profession has really taken a hit from all the political, top-heavy admin and the shift to data mining, not to mention the near total lack of responsibility of students to be part of the learning process.

Well, with lots of parents from the Arab/Muslim part of the world these days, that may actually be true.

The student population at that particular school is especially diverse.

Get rid of public schools? That might be the best idea. They've lost their original purpose and education should become more results oriented.

Most bureaucracies prefer to stay with the old way unless they're forced to change.. Just as avowed Communists would never migrate to a Communist country so politicians would never allow their children to attend pubic schools. Public schools seem to be one of those good in theory things.

Jew hatred goes back a long way in europe and they were even blamed for the plague. They have been used as scape goats many times. So in this area no one fits into their category over time.

And it never dies. It lives on even on forums.

Frankly it astounds me. Denying the mass murders in Germany when the evidence is irrefutable gives understanding why jew hatred never dies.

Such people will insure the possibility of future mass murders.

I think it just comes as a shock, and reveals how incredibly naive and insular most Westerners are. They literally think they're the font of all knowledge and history. The keepers of the True Truth, etc. So it's always incredibly satisfying (to me) to see these facts brought to light. I've seen folk actually humiliated by such information. It was inconceivable that the things they thought were universally important, were not even known about, much less cared about.

Charter schools are essentially public schools that don't have all the same baggage attached that regular public schools have. They can exclude students that might lower their performance ratings.

The Public Education "bureaucracy" you refer to is a state mandated beast. I live in a very red state and out educational system is a product of our elected politicians, not a liberal bureaucracy. There are many problems with the system, but one in particular that is crippling education is the obsessive focus on testing. Standardized testing means that a bureaucratized, one-size-fits-all system must be in place.

There usually is more to it, but too many people have a political agenda they feel compelled to push & will wedge any set of facts they can to fit it. This entire thread is a shining example of that.

There are at least two people on this thread who are engaging in what any reasonable person would accept as 'holocaust' denial. Pretty sure neither of them are Arab or Muslim. Fascinating that you would overlook that but somehow drag in Muslims, though there is no evidence they are relevant to this discussion.

Funny how similarly people who hate Jews & people who hate Muslims behave.
