Translation: It's time to change the rules so Democrats can win all the time.

There's nothing wrong with the electoral college. There's only something wrong with it when people don't get their way.

So 3 million more voted for Hillary. Whoop-de-do! Over 90,000,000 registered voters didn't vote. Might want to work on that. Maybe get a better candidate next time. Not leftovers from a corrupt and dysfunctional era.

The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy.

Like I said, when people don't get their way only then is the electoral college a problem. I'm sure he wasn't happy when Obama won. So thank you for supporting my point.

Nice spin LOL....We all know you are trying to make it seems as though Clinton and "leftists" are the only ones whined and complained. You didn't mentioned Trump in your post, how unsurprising.....How many righties liked his tweet again?

What an intellectually dishonest flame bait of a thread.

Why would I have to mention Trump? My OP is about the loser Hillary Clinton.

If you don't like it go troll somewhere else. And you called an actual current events article 'flame bait?' Comedy gold right there.

I actually agree with getting rid of the Electoral College. One of the main problems about it, had been exposed by the past election: It's the States that decide the President, not the voters. To the extent that one wants to call this a 'democracy', that doesn't leave voters with much choice. And yes, it goes both ways.

If Trump didn't crack the Blue Wall, Hillary would be President. At the same time, Democrats tried to target Texas. Not necessarily because they can offer Texas a better future, but because Texas is the one and only stronghold of the GOP. Take away Texas, and the Blue Wall becomes a blue stranglehold.

The Electoral College could indeed one day usher in a dictatorship(of sorts). Just have enough popular support in the right states, and presuming we become totally-ideologue in nature, that party could stay in power conceivably for a long time. Since its States, not people.

Or if you want to keep the College, equalize it all to 1 vote per State.

Thanks for openly admitting that you are intellectually dishonest. You have zero interest in discussing the merit of the Electoral College, and this is nothing but a flame bait of a thread.

Even if he lost Texas Trump still would have won the election.

If it weren't for the electoral college we wouldn't have seen a non Democratic candidate in a long time other than Reagan.

And thank you for debating rationally <Mod Edit- Rule 2/3>

With no electoral college we'd have a civil war within 20 years

Uh, I am over it. But that's why they call this the 'Current events' section. Because Hillary is all over the news. Try to keep up.

You do realize that it's the majority of people in each State that decides which candidate gets the electoral college votes, don't you? And since there are more registered Democrats than there are Republicans nationwide I wonder why the Democrats don't get out their voters in the Red States?

LOL....I don't do such things unless you do some serious ad homs....but YOUR thread title isn't conducive to a civil debate, especially for Clinton supporters. If you had wanted a "civil" debate, you would have left Clinton out of it, or mentioned Trump, who in 2012 complained about the Electoral College.

Absolutely true. It goes to show once again how utterly bad both Hillary and Donald were as candidates for the highest elected office in the country.

Is it sinking in yet just how far we have fallen as a nation at this point?

I'm torn on this. On the one hand, I agree that for the most part the Electoral College works, but on the other hand, I think the decisions about who is POTUS should be left in the hands of the American people as a whole and not broken down by state.

Clinton's reasons for wanting to get rid of it are just because she lost the election as a result of it, so her opinion on the EC is about as relevant as my cat's opinion on it.

Electoral College is outdated and contrived. Republicans have to rely on archaic, esoteric systems of law to win elections. It's pretty hysterical when you think that their message is so odious and noisome that they can't win the popular vote with -any- candidate.

Last bastion of hope for the ailing, dying baby boomers, they are.

I did not understand the Electoral College as much as I do from this year's election. It makes perfect sense. Without it, New York and California elect the President. There are 48 states that do not want that and tens of millions of citizens that agree! The Electoral College is the most brilliant process defined by our founding fathers and today is more important than ever before!

The problem is so many Americans don't understand it at all. When the electoral/political map of the United States is better than 70% red, the red should win. It is that simple! And vice versa if it were blue.

WRONG, Your thread is a condemnation of all Democrats with you claiming or implying that the Democrats want to get rid of the EC so can win perpetually. I would be more judicious about calling others out for trolling if I was you.after the tread you posted.

Go back and read about the different elections throughout history and attempted voter fraud throughout the history of the US, the electoral college works better than not having it. The fraud would get out of hand.

I especially agree with your last sentence about giving the states one vote since that would really give the small states the same power and representation as the larger states by taking the population factor out.
If that was the case Trump would still have won but going forward and if the population mix of more and more states shifts to be more and more towards Democrats you would see how fast Republicans woukd want to abandon the one state one vote deal.

Does anyone really believe that Texas would like to have the same power of Delaware orcAlaska?

I also strongly believe that if it was the other way around and the Trump won the popular vote and the. Clinton Woman won the EC it would be the Trumpeizdas who would be screaming like screwed geese in a French pate' factory.
