I don't know where you get this "often" in describing the nature of belligerent attack against the average guy. In a post apocalyptic situation, maybe, but in the course of going about your daily business? I get a picture of Daffy Duck on opening day. Someone has already blown his tail feathers off, and his union suit is sticking out. Everywhere he goes, someone is shooting at him. You can't be ready for every possible situation.
