Fascism is when a political party uses law enforcement to illegally spy on the opposition party Fascism is when brownshirts riot, loot, burn down cities, attack and intimidate peaceful opposition. Fascism is when the media lies, spins, demonizes, suppresses information, censors. Fascism is when courts are packed by "convenient" judges ...
China might be able to absorb Taiwan, but they won't be able to stomp on Japan. We were on our way to putting the Big Squeeze on China until the Idiot-in-Chief hurt the plan by withdrawing from efforts to create the TPP. Oh, please. Total Chinese exports to this country are less than 4% of their GDP. The rest of the world has no intention to disengage and we would isolate ourselves. Better to put the heat on China by forming trading alliances like the TPP. Thank goodness Trump is gone.
Trump isn't Hitler, but there are enough parallels to raise the hair on the back of your neck. See all three parts on YouTube:
Our friend here thinks China could stomp on the US. My Chinese informants report that the tariffs weighed heavily on the Chinese economy. Here is an interesting article: China is aiming to join the TPP confounding your strategy. https://asia.nikkei.com/Editor-s-Pi...Obama that tried to counter the TPP exclusion.
Not yet. Depends upon what one means by "weighed heavily." It may have knocked a point off growth, but that's about it. The TPP was set up to oppose China and let China join if it went along with trade rules much tougher than the WTO.
I don't have any numbers. I do have first hand reports of economic pain So China is about to do that. Sounds like a success to me, at least from your point of view. What's your beef?
And yet you think China would obey the TPP trade rules even though they've flouted the WTO for decades?
Being an independent doesn't mean you have political power not beholden to one party power structure or the other. All it means is that your vote isn't guaranteed. Sure you can vote for a third party but there is absolutely no reward for doing so. Are you talking about a shooting war? Because we have been in an economic war with them since Nixon.
You're absolutely correct, In 2006 the electorate consisted of 31% Republicans, 36% Democrats, 30% independents. Today the numbers are 28% Republican, 31% Democrat, 40% independent. Putting the good of the party over the good of the nation is probably the main cause for both major parties shrinkage. Most Americans want to two major parties to work together, to cooperate where possible, compromise and play the game of give and take. Not try to destroy each other at every breathing moment. https://news.gallup.com/poll/220265/americans-favor-compromise-things-done-washington.aspx
We'll see what happens. I think the original TPP strategy might have pressured China, but Trump's go-it-alone approach has been a bust.
Many think the trade war helped to pressure China. In any case, I think go-it-alone is the right idea. Globalization benefits only the1% and screws the working man.
The objective evidence says otherwise. We're selling less in China than we were four years ago. We're almost a century past the time when we had enough raw materials to go it alone.
Well duh. And the largest international trade organization on the planet couldn't tame the Chinese, but you think the TPP can. Tell me, what enforcement measures would the TPP have that the WTO doesn't, and how are the enforcement measures going to work against China?
It's could be a do-over for us. We have long history of leaving loopholes in trade agreements we can use to jack around other countries.
