…House Republicans were blocked Wednesday from criticizing President Biden's student loan forgiveness plan by Facebook, saying such posts violate community standards, according to officials.

The House Judiciary GOP tweeted that a post about paying back student loans was tagged as violating Facebook's "community standards."

"WOW: @facebook says our post about paying back loans violates their "community standards." Big Tech’s at it again," the group tweeted Wednesday over screenshots.

One read: "If you take out a loan, you pay it back. Period." The other shows a Facebook warning saying the post "goes against our community standards…

…Fox News has reached out to Facebook. Conservatives had long complained about being censored by giant tech companies they say silence their political views online…

his is an outrage. Big tech social media censorship against the communicated expression of the opposition within the US government against a political policy of the executive branch of the government. But I’m sure it’s ok for business to openly side with the regime by silencing the official political opposition.

It seems that a lot of meta employees stand to benefit from this Presidential action and are out to silence all opposition to their personal gain

Is a private business private - or should big government FORCE a private business to be a soapbox for anything and everything?
Aren't you the guy always complaining about "big government" getting all up in your face?

By the way - weren't you guys all heading to "untruth central" anyway?

I don't have a problem with FB censoring people but don't go advertising that the company is spending countless amount of money to fight fake news when FB allows fake news to flourish depending on users' political affiliation.

If and when I use social media, I do use Truth Social, Parler, Gab, Rumble.

    NOT an "outrage"...:bored:
    Far from it...
If the GOP wants to cry and whimper about FB's TOS...
Then, they are always free to go to Truth Social...
    ^Problem solved...

Maybe it's time those House Republicans grew a spine and grew up, instead of complaining about every petty thing.

That “it’s a private business” arguement went out years ago. Facebook colludes worth the democrat party, like most of Big Tech it’s a propaganda mouthpiece for the democrats.

FB should be forced to register as a political activity campaign org and obey the election laws.

Truth Social competes with Twitter, not Facebook.

Then why the **** are you complaining about Facebook?
You got plenty of other avenues to kiss Trump's butt - so why play the victim card?

The arguement that a private company can promote a political party went out when campaign finance laws were created. A company that wants to directly promote a party must register as a political entity and follow the rules.

Private can mean not publicly traded. Private can also mean “not part of the government”. It is in the latter sense that they have no obligation to grant anyone the right of free speech, as the government does. A government function would not be allowed (in general) to censor your speech. A non-government entity can. Facebook is private in meaning of not being a government entity.
    _________

Btw-- Where would anybody get the idea that FB "wants to directly promote" a political party?
    Sounds like Tinfoil Hat stuff...

when it accepted the FCC part 230 status it agreed it was a mere platform. If it picks a side in politics and promotes that side while censoring the opposition it violates the FCC rule and campaign finance law. If it engages in elections it becomes a political action entity, doesn’t matter if it’s private or not.

can you as an individual donate whatever you want to a party or candidate? No, campaign finance laws limit it, they apply to all.

The answer to your question is when the FBI tells them to.

I’ve seen tons of FB posts telling people to pay back their loans. That a nobody can post the same message as the GOP but only the GOP’s post get censored is discrimination. What terms of service did the GOP violate that thousands of others didn’t even though the posts are identical?

As for the private business argument, government tells private businesses what to do all the time; they have to provide insurance, the have to pay a minimum wage, they can’t discriminate, in California private businesses won’t be able to sell gas powered cars after 2035, etc. I’ll bet you don’t have a problem with any of that.
