How Trump Steered Supporters Into Unwitting Donations

Can this be legitimately called a scam? It certainly looks like deceptive trickery. And the Trump campaign has been ordered to return some millions of dollars to victims of the scam.

An in-depth report tells of multiple check boxes, some for monthly recurring payments, some for weekly, and one for whenever the campaign feels like taking more. Some donors' bank accounts were drained of thousands of dollars without them knowing it.

Yes, it's a scam. They've already paid back some of the money. I'm sure he will officially claim that it was a computer error or something unintentional. It's a shame that so many people still can't see through his cons. Why is he begging for and stealing money anyway? Is he claiming to be one of the richest people on the planet?

Half of the donors will say it's fake news and the other half will say Trump can do whatever he wants with their money.

You can't reason with people who are intoxicated by a cult of personality.

 

I think it's because he isn't really so rich, but being VERY tight with what he has means he wants to get money any way he can to pay for his huge legal fees that he's going to incur.

 

Unlike some I want damage to be corrected and to be paid for by the guilty party.

Do you want to see your tax dollars be used to pay for fixing everything he screwed up or broke? Don't you want him to pay his own way?

 

Most of them think it's an honor to be scammed by the chosen one and will wear it as a badge of honor.

 

I think he is "cash poor" and has been for some time now. They still haven't sorted out how much money was misappropriated for his inauguration. They will be untangling his financial abuse for years to come.

I agree with you. He shouldn't be able to dump this on the taxpayers. There will be many new laws and rules written solely as a result of how much he abused his position while POTUS.

It is, but it's what happens when an entire party is undergoing an identity crisis. If they admit Trump is a scam artist, who else would they turn to? Ted Cruz who cheated in the 2016 primaries?

I saw that it was a recurring transaction. It was obvious. I chose not to do it.

It probably wasn't a good idea to do a recurring payment for the campaign, but it certainly didn't feel deceptive to me.

One can only hope that some justice will be meted out in the many investigations and lawsuits currently underway. It isn't about vengeance, it's about accountability for his corruption. He has committed crimes. He should be prosecuted just like any other crook. And incidentally, I'm not interested in watching any of it, no need to televise it on my account. All I want is for Trump to be held to the same standards as the rest of us. Don't you want that?
