The US and World Health Organization are paying for women in Africa to be given the injectable contraceptive Depo-Provera. Unfortunately, this contraceptive may be causing African women to die by increasing their susceptibility to HIV, and a disease which is a huge problem and the leading cause of death in Africa. It may be doing this both by suppressing her immune system and decreasing the skin thickness in her sexual tissues, making her more vulnerable to infection. Two studies have been published in The Lancet and PLOS One medical journals showing a substantial correlation between a woman receiving Depo-Provera and contracting HIV, being as much as 50% more likely to contract it. Maybe this is because these women who are taking contraceptives are more likely to have sex with many different men?

In other words you're saying women should be allowed to use abortion as their birth control because those other forms of contraceptives may not be safe?
I was just suggesting that women who are given this injectable long-acting contraceptive may be more likely to engage in sex, thinking that they can do so without getting pregnant. Also, women who are not planning on having sex outside of a relationship with their husband are probably going to be less likely to take this injectable contraceptive in the first place.
