DO you remember the amazing Mr.Brian Banks? The onetime HS football phenom, nationally rated linebacker, shoo-in for a Div.1 scholarship, whose entire world came crashing down around him, when he convicted of a rape he did not commit?

Then , upon his release from prison, the eventual admission of his accuser, recanting her rape claim, he was exonerated legally, and then he FORGAVE HIS ACCUSER?

Remember him? Man of the Year material, IMO....remember?

Well, his dreams might YET COME TRUE: the Atalanta Falcins have SIGNED HIM, and he will be given an opportunity to make their 53 man roster, a a PAID, PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYER.

I hope he makes the team as a starter, and LEADS THE LEAGUE in SACKS!!!

May God guide his steps: (try to control yourselves, and keep from derailing the thread into an argument about GOD, you know who.)

Exonerated Football Player Brian Banks Signed by Atlanta Falcons

"... the eventual admission of his accuser, recanting her rape claim..."

    Taxcutter says:
This is what is meant by an "illegitimate rape complaint."

I know but you will never get feminists to admit that women lie about rape because women can be very very vindictive. Its the same attitude that led to the Salem witch trials.

When I was in college we had a player accused of rape by a girl he had spurned. She made a good enough story but she didn't know the football teams schedule all too well. She thought she was in the clear accusing him of raping her a couple hours after our practice ended too bad for her we have film a few hours after practice. 80 guys could account for his whereabouts.

One thing that I really remember from the whole incident is that about a year and half later we had some liberal dourchebags putting on some seminars that we were forced to go to. One of the issues was sexual assaults on campuses, the (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)bags were trying to convince us that no one would ever lie about such a thing. The highlight was 'do you know anyone who would ever lie about such a thing.' The whole team responded 'Yeah!'.

Yeah, no rape accusation is EVER true, them girls just like to be mean to REAL men!

False allegations are the basis of 2 out of every 100 claims, but that is all important! Why think about anything else?

And 90% of all statistics are made up. The studies on false rape claims are all over the place from 2% to 90%. I hardly see any credible standard to say how many are false or not.

Given what I have read I'd say that the mode is between 10-20%. The statistics very greatly because many of the false accusers never go as far as formally going as far as the police when they find out exactly what that entails for them.

That's weird. I didn't see anyone claim that rape accusaton are never true. Must be interesting fighting an imaginary argument.

Anyway good luck to this kid. One of the guys I went to school with use to play for them too.

I'm glad he was able to get a second chance, considering his first chance was cut short by a liar. The false accuser should have to pay restitution for the time he was in prison and on probation.

Some accusations are legitimate. Some are illegitimate.

But candidates are castigated by the MSM for acknowledging that fact.

Yes, I remember this story. This young dude had 5 yrs of his life taken away from him b/c of a lying, despicable female....

I hope he rocks to stardom - can't think of anyone more deserving! Good for the Atlanta Falcons for giving him a chance to pursue his career....... God bless 'em!

I absolutely agree. Her lie put him in prison for 5 yrs, so she should have to sit in prison for the exact # of yrs and days he had to be there...

    And nothing happened to her?

I don't care if he forgave her, I don't want some lying woman doing that again. She should get jail time or at a minimum HEAVY fines.

Why was she not prosecuted for perjury?

From what I understood - nothing was done to her. She got on the witness stand, lied thru her rotten teeth, committing perjury, crying that this guy raped her... I believe she said it was in the school's stairwell - and the young guy sat in prison for the next 5 yrs for something he didn't do........ and she walks free. No punishment, no nothing.....

How's that for sending a message to the girls/women if they get pist off at a guy? Forget the fine. Make her sit in prison as long as he had to sit there........

I'm curious as to why she faces no jeopardy from the State for that...

    Good point.

As far as Brian Banks, I hope the world is his oyster....I'm a big fan, even if he plays for the "Dirty Birds"...

He has forgiven her. Any liability to her will , apparently, have to come from the State.

I wish I was strong enough to have his HEART. I am FAR more vindictive. He is one of my personal heroes....BB ROCKS, IMO.

    She will, apparently, go unpunished...

As I posted earlier, I only WISH I had the HEART and MORAL COURAGE of Brian Banks...

She should get the EXACT SAME PENALTY a convicted rapist would get, PLUS whatever perjury gets her!

I hope someone hunts her down & tortures her to death,

I hope he does well but its going to be tough. Football isn't like basketball. You aren't pro ready right out of high school. I learned so so much in my 5 years of college ball. I really cant fathom someone trying to make the jump to the pros without that experience.

But then again there have been exceptions. Night Train told the bus to stop at the Rams training camp on his way to his factory job and became a hall of famer so anything is possible.

but for a guy who's only experience is high school ball the pros are going to be a huge awakening.

Well, he had workouts with several clubs, and the Birds then signed him...so....I wish him the best, while acknowledging the reality of your perspective.

Still has to make the 53 man roster, to maintain that pay level....:fingerscrossed:

I'll bet he's the "workin' outest dude" in the Western World right now....!! :rock_slayer:

    - - - Updated - - -

I'm still amazed at his strength of character, reflected in his simple Grace, and his forgiveness of his accuser.

I KNOW I probably could not have done the same...hell, scratch the "probably"...
