He did that last night on Hannity. The law says closed door interviews come first, then public hearings.

How is that part of Congressional oversight. Sounds more like local family court.

He has nothing !!! Thats the point here. A “private hearing” allows the right to make up more things, like they have been doing for the last couple of years. The have claimed ad-nauseam that Hunter Biden was crooked, and they had the goods, they had “the laptop”, yet here we are 4 years later and they charged him for Tax fraud, then dropped those charges and are now charging him for lying on a gun application. If you cant smell the irony there your nose is broken !!!!

They dont want a public hearing because it will show the public that they have nothing, and it’s all just politics. This is more kabuki theatre. They have spent 3 years telling us they had the goods, and about the “Biden Crime Family”, and here they have the perfect opportunity to show/prove their claims, and they are literally backing away from it.

I would say that hopefully the right in this country will now shut up about “Hunter” and “the Biden crime family”, but we all know they wont. But when they do, just remind them that they had their chance, and they declined it, because THEY know it is a lie.

How does not wanting it in secret translate to not wanting him to testify?

What law? Lol sounds like BS to me. If it’s going to be secret testimony like some sort of Soviet court, he should fight it.

I don’t know the law but you’re free to either ask Comer about it or go back and watch his interview with Hannity. Comer also cited a time when Raskin refused to allow a public hearing before a private interview. Are we back to having different rules based on politics?

Since Hunter called their bluff something like this was inevitable:

Open hearings are common and no one worried about 'sources and means'.

There is NO law that requires a deposition not to be open. Whether or not they should or shouldn't would depend on public interest and various factors. Indeed, there is a public interest, and not only that, since Comer and Repubs have been smearing Hunter in public for a year now, it would only be fair that the deposition be televised, especially if it is conducted in the halls of congress, you know, the 'public house'.

Hunter Biden's testimony will almost certainly help President Biden. I detailed exactly why that is the likely outcome for years on various threads.
If RP politicians are just now figuring this out they are totally detached from reality and the existing public record.

Yes, the RP was, justifiably, demanding full public due process. Now? Not so much.
Oh well, after you have stepped in a cow patty it doesn't help to look down.

So you are denying that Hunter hasn't been a right wing punching bag for about a year now?

ROFL bold approach? Hunter has no choice on the matter it's not a negotiation. Standard practice and just as with the Jan 6 committee, deposition by staff first then public testimony. This is a stall a "SEE HOW WE VOLUNTEERED" when volunteering is for something they know is going to happen. Smoke and mirrors don't fall for it.

It will be after the standard deposition by the committee staff to prepare the members for their questioning.

EARTH TO EVERYONE...................the deposition phase is the normal process for Congressional committees and even in a courtroom. Just as the Jan 6 committee witnesses give hours of depositions before the committee staffs and members sometimes and then the public hearing is held. Hunter has no say in the matter whether public testimony of deposition first.

This is his attorney's ruse. They KNOW Hunter is going to have to sit for deposition first so they are playing this to make it look like they have NOTHING TO HIDE. The committee is MAKING it's case, they are just now getting to be able to subpoena and take those depositions.

You've been played by Lowell to give Hunter sympathy.

This is a DEPOSITION........................witnesses are always deposed first so the committee members can get their questions together for the public testimony which is LOTS more focused. This is testimony and then they come out with a report or something, this is his preliminary testimony to the committee staff.

There is NO law requiring nor standard pratice that they be open to the public, it is where the committee staff's for the most part do the preliminary questioning to determine what paths will be taken in the limited public hearings. Member only get their 5 minutes at a time and they have to prepare to get very specific and to the point in the public questioning. And sorry the facts as we know them smear the Bidens why do you keep denying it?

Last I checked, the DOJ only investigates potential crimes, not GOP butthurt that their guy was dinged twice..... for one activity that was later determined to be illegal and for another that he's facing criminal charges for....
