"This country is divided because of attitudes like that" was a memorable moment that is getting much airplay, as well as other current confrontations between the two, with Huntsman scoring repeated blows to Romney's vacant sack as he climbs in the polls against the frontrunning serial liar. If the con-tact sport between Mitten and his fellow con-didates doesn't soon abate, ol' Willard may have the fight of his desperate political life intensifying and possibly see his last shot fade, either by losing the nomination, or so badly bruised he'll be rotten goods by the time Obama comes along and steps on him as he cakewalks into his 2nd term.
I don't think I could vote for Huntsman, but aside from Ron Paul, he is the only one of GOP hopefuls right now who's ass I would not beat the crap out of if given a chance to do without consequences. all others would be badly buised up, including the ones who dropped out.
In a fair and reasonable con world, Huntsman would be the best con-didate ever. But extremos have whacko'd themselves into a tight corner and are now squishing themselves into a bigger mess as they fight for the tightest part of the corner. Meanwhile, Huntsman has remained out of the stupidity and finally is gaining support. But being a Mormon is a devestating handicap, as it is for Mitten, and will hamper them both no matter how far they go.
The not-so-great Reagan wouldn't be acceptable to the world extremo cons occupy today. He's a socialist lib now, and makes me kinda semi-almost like him a slight bit.
The world couldn't be fair and reasonable enough for a candidate who attacks the base of the party he is trying to get the nomination from. Huntsman came out swinging... not against Obama, but Republicans, calling them idiots. His campaign manager has said that Republican primary voters are cranks. Ironically, his record and his agenda is conservative and if he wasn't shooting himself in the foot he would be the perfect non-Romney alternative.
People just can't stand it when someone is open and honest. We've been so removed as a society from those values for so long, people are dumbfounded.
Well. . .they are idiots! Haven't you noticed? Huntsman is worth five of them at least. . .he is a really decent candidate that does have a chance to appeal to independents and rational thinking people. . .not extremists! You guys are losing it. . .just by being your extreme selves! How nice! -D
In a good world, Huntsman would dominate the GOP primary and eventually go on to beat Obama in a strong showing. The world is not good, unfortunately.
I agree that he could be a good candidate, but his current campaign strategy is... how can I say this...idiotic. It rivals Guliani's plan to stay out of the primaries until the Florida primary. Huntsman needs to fire his current campaign manager and reverse course or he'll go the way of Guliani.
I feel bad for Huntsman. He has to deal with a largely fanatical Republican base. Each candidate has a loyal, almost cultish following (Ron Paul supporters are cult-like), with exception to the former ambassador to China. Huntsman appeals to independents, disaffecteds, and moderates, not mainstream Conservatives or Libertarians.
IMO, Huntsman probably delivered the most important line of the debate. BTW, where is Mittens Romney's tax return? What's that MILLIONAIRE paying these days? (I really HATE IT when he pretends to be OF the middle class! What a big phoney.)
I like Huntsman....he brings out the Semi Conservative in me. He did a good job in Utah. Which goes to show that both sides policies can work in the right enviorment. Sadly he wont go far...seeing as how for Mitt Romney the moderate to stay relevant he has to act extreme.
All Mitt has to do is stand in front of the camera look good and yank Obama's chain. The banks will do the rest for him. Or already have....... These are the same folks who financed Obamas run. Top 10 contributers to Mitt Romney Or as i like to put it, his masters.... Goldman Sachs $367,200 Credit Suisse Group $203,750 Morgan Stanley $199,800 HIG Capital $186,500 Barclays $157,750 Kirkland & Ellis $132,100 Bank of America $126,500 PriceWaterhouseCoopers $118,250 EMC Corp $117,300 JPMorgan Chase & Co $112,250
I think you are badly misreading the Republican race if you think that each candidate has a loyal following. There has been a new top non Romney almost every month since the debates started. That's not cultish. Romney and Paul's followers would more fit that definition. And I think you've stated the crux of Huntsman's problem. Huntsman is a conservative. He's got a conservative record and a conservative agenda. However, in a primary race, he's running to appeal to "independents, disaffecteds, and moderates, not mainstream Conservatives or Libertarians." So he's running a general election campaign to win the votes of people who are not voting in a Republican primary and ignoring the actual voters in the primary race. That's why I say his campaign strategy is idiotic.
You are right.. Huntsman is not playing to the Evangelicals, Latinos, Christian Zionists.. He is playing to Americans. Huntsman's wife is a Christian and he went to U of Utah rather than Brigham Young..... big difference.
How would he do that ? By lying about Romney's words about firing insurance companies that dont perform ? By lying about the impact and problems Obama's administration has caused with CHINA ? You are smart enough to know we are losing in a trade battle with with China right now ? And Huntsman was the lead Man. TOAST.
Huntsman was elected Governor OF UTAH. 80 % self identified MORMON BASE. I'd LOVE to see him run for office anywhere else.
Funny people call Huntsman the RINO. If you take an actual look at his record as a public servant youll see he didnt support half the (*)(*)(*)(*) the liberal Newt and liberal Romney did. Hell even Santorum was there along side and lock step with every other "conservative" during the bailouts. Odd how the tea party welcomes this guy with open arms when they are supposedly supposed to be a referendum on republicans like Santorum.
Best record, best plan for America, best qualifications. He has to do what he can to stay alive in the polls: America isn't fair to him.
