Hello. I live in Canada but I wish to play either Power Ball or Mega million. I found this website online where foreigners can buy US lotto tickets online: www.playusalotteries.com

I am just wondering if people here have any experience with this site, are they reliable, is it safe to give them my Visa info. I really want to play, lotteries from USA have jackpots that are much higher than Canadian ones.

    Thanks.

Better to bet the horses or dog tracks better odds.

Can't you just cross the border and buy tickets?

Why wouldn't you just visit the Powerball website to find out? I did, and here is what it says . . .

Some lotteries sell Powerball tickets over the Internet, but the service is only available to residents of that jurisdiction. The sale of Powerball tickets over the Internet or by mail across jurisdictional borders is restricted. Lotteries may refuse to pay out prize money on Powerball tickets purchased on any website other than their own – please contact the individual lottery with any further questions

Good lord, I had no idea Canada was so benighted! A car is every American's birthright.

You can buy all you want. I am not sure they will let you actually claim the jackpot if you win.

Well, you can still purchase tickets. You would have to come to the US to do so though. It says on the website that foreigners can play the US lotteries too.

Why would a poor person decide that throwing his limited funds away on the freakin' lottery is a wise decision?

It's not a good decision at all when your odds of winning are SO low. You have a greater chance of being struck by lightning than winning the Powerball lottery. In the long run, you end up just throwing money away (or giving it to the person who actually does win! - LOL). I guess you can't win if you don't play though. :D

Yep. The transit system where I live is quite good.

I don't "throw away" my money on lottery tickets. I only buy them when the jackpot is really big. And I only buy one ticket.

If I have a ticket, I have a chance to win (however small).

It's actually a common poor person mindset. I mean, who do you think buys all those lottery tickets? Middle income professional people? They are mostly poor people.

Where I work, we also sell Scratch N Win tickets, and 99% of the time people who buy them are seniors.

Lottery is ENTERTAINMENT. If you are spending your transportation/food/rent/medication money on entertainment, then your priorities are misaligned. You will be FAR ahead of the game dropping that occasional $2 into an interest bearing account. It is, however, your own choice. Freedom baby.

The problem is, you can't win even if you do play... to a statistical certainty.

Find someone who goes to the US and have him buy your tickets. MAKE SURE YOU COLLECT THE TICKET BEFORE THE DRAWING.

Never buy more than one ticket, as the increase in your odds is truly so infinitesimal as to be not worth even an extra dollar. Besides, it offends the Gods to try and change your luck though they admire your taking a chance

A winning ticket is a bearer instrument. Anyone having it collects, unless someone has signed it in the designated place However, they will not pay on tickets sold illegally and they often raid the Internet sellers and can get records of the numbers of all tickets they have sold
