    Thats all I want.

If you're sincere about not trying to use the force of govt to limit my choice in whether I can have a semiautomatic rifle to defend myself, even if I never 'need' it, then we're on the same team regardless how much we tell eachother that we do or do not need one. I will never advocate for anyone to be coerced into having a firearm.

That's my point...you already have your choice. Nobody is trying to take anything from you.
Can you see that you are intentionally making yourself out to be a victim...
so that you can justify arming yourself with "assault weapons"?

You think I have guns simply because some folks don't want me to?

Not at all...I'm guessing you have them simply because you like them...same as me.

    I'm with you, brother.

If this were a perfect world, with no criminals, no crazy people, no homicidal maniacs, etc., then logically, we wouldn't need firearms for protection.

Wakeup call for all the radical hyperliberals -- IT AIN'T A PERFECT WORLD. :omg:

We don't have nearly enough police department personnel to meet the challenges that ARE IN OUR FACES IN 2021, and a lot of big, liberal cities want to slash spending on these vitally important police officers, even though they are are all that stands between us and the rotten, dangerous crudballs in the country that prey on the rest of us....

In such lovely times as these, to all law-abiding, adult American citizens, my recommendation remains --
"Lock your doors, load your weapons, and MIND YOUR OWN DAMNED BUSINESS!" :oldman:

The poll is flawed so I could not make a selection. It is not possible to only infringe upon the rights of the one but not the many, or the many but not the one. An authoritarian state infringes always upon the individuals who make up the many, while creating a super set of individuals who are in the good graces of the authoritarian. It does not matter if the authoritarian is an individual or a party, left wing or right wing, liberal or conservative. Authoritarian states can exist, and have existed, do exist today, from both ends of the political spectrum. They always enhance the rights and powers of the elite few at the expense of the general population. Individuals who seek to secure their rights are treated harshly by authoritarians no matter the political spectrum each hails from.

I am not sure you can have group rights without having the individual rights first. Dictator types are mostly worried about groups as they are harder to break than individuals. It is why LEO have such problems preventing lone wolves and out military struggles preventing guerilla type attacks--they are more focused on opposition/violent groups that are easier to identify, penetrate, monitor and/or break up.
