He's neither.

It's not heroic or courageous to give in to your demons, which this guy obviously did. There are people out there who literally want to have their arms and legs removed, I'm serious. If we give in to the demons of those people do we call them heroes or people with serious mental issues? If you knew someone who had uncontrollable feelings to do heroin, drink booze, or commit suicide, does anyone call it a success when they actually do it? Then why would anyone do it here?

Jenner was a man's man. He was the number one athlete in his sport and the best in this sport is often considered the world's best athlete. There is absolutely no way a female ever could have competed with him - ever! Combine that with his biological parts and a mirror and he should have known he was a man who actually measured more highly than many other men. His problem was in his mind. Making matters worse, Jenner has allowed himself to become a national joke, the subject of tabloid stories, and a girl on the cover of a national magazine. If that doesn't scream out loud and clear that he needs help then nothing will.

And another thing. We keep hearing about how the right should stay out of people's bedrooms. Well, I'm not in Jenner's bedroom, but he's in mine, and my living room, and my computer, and any place else his story can be seen on TV, radio, or the internet. The left waves this stuff in our faces and if our opinion is different than theirs they tell us to stay out of their bedroom? If Jenner stayed in his bedroom this would never be a story.

PS - I don't know why this thread was moved to the Civil Rights section since Jenner's civil rights were never called into question. This is a current event, wouldn't you all agree?

 

a blue dog democrat in this country is a democrat who is relatively conservative, not an American liberal or progressive. We won't even discuss a 'classical' liberal which is more like a the American libertarian than anything else. I don't know squat about this courage award, or these wounded veterans, you want to receive it, so I can't comment on these specific candidates.

Funny. I don't have Jenner in my house at all. No magazines that reflect her on it. No tv that shows her. I guess I have more important things to do at home then sit in front of a tv, computer or read magazines all day. If I do get time, I'll typically read a book or watch a movie. As far as computer, I can't remember the last time I was on one at home. I'm online at work for 8 hours and when I get some free time, I'll check out this site as well as several others.

I do agree that I probably wouldn't have given the award to Catilyn Jenner either. But I'm not the one giving the awards out either. She is going through quite a bit with the transformation. Just by reading this thread, you can tell people aren't too thrilled about it either.

One thing that happened was that most of the Dixiecrats (racist conservative Dems) left the Party for the GOP.

Took a lot of the Social Conservatives with them.


So that today, the GOP has a well-established image a party that has a huge contingent of racists, bigots, homophobes, etc. in congruence with their anti-New Deal and fiscal conservative types who want to send the country back to the 1890s.


A period of time that works out well for ALL those groups....the racists like it, because it is the error of Jim Crow. The Social Cons like it because it pre-dates women's rights, much less gay rights. And the Other Right, the Ayn Rand/Corporatist Right love it because they love plutocracy.

So it leaves people who are bigots...but support Social Security and Medicare in a bit of a paradox. They used to vote for George Wallace...now they vote Republican or whine about the Democratic Party not being racist and socially conservative any more.

 

A double amputee who CURRENTLY competes in marathons, obstacle races etc and helps fellow veterans with PTSD. Not letting losing two limbs on the same side slow you down and helping other people? Much tougher than being a millionaire who gets aware with vehicular manslaughter and has some plastic surgery. "People who hate"? Seriously? On the internet? Where each click gets him/her royalty money? I'm sure he's/she's just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO damaged and triggered by that.

 

Then I suggest you stop the clicking. My life is the same today, no matter who won an award I have no clue about or care about. ESPY right?

Democrats are racist, just not like we are. Conservative racists favor the white man, whereas liberal racists favor every color but white.

 

My life is likewise the same and I have also refrained from touching any of the click bait articles about this bunch of malarky. The "catelyn" don't get royalties from a forum post. I am likewise free to have an opinion about the issue without it changing my life. I made a simple comment on an online forum to the effect of "well that's (*)(*)(*)(*)ing dumb" and now two posters with "air" in their names have decided they must change my mind about it.

You misread what I said. I agree most conservatives aren't racist and don't favor the white man, which is the problem.

I mostly agree with treating everyone equally, which is the reason I am not a democrat. Affirmative Action doesnt treat blacks equal, its just a form of black privilege.

 

I don't believe some people are being so mean to Caitlyn on here. How about some compassion for someone who is obviously suffering a serious mental disorder.

This is a mental disorder that should be studied, just like homosexuality, and sufferers should be given medication for it. It will make their lives a lot better and give them the freedom to choose what they want to do, another option.

I don't think we know enough about the disorder to know what sort of medication would help. In the meantime, let him prance around in a dress if it makes him feel better. It's cheaper than any sort of medication and treatment.
