If I were president, I would dump at least 3 gov agencies that are not needed starting with the Fed Dept of Ed. The states can handle it. I would eliminate about 30% of Fed jobs. I would eliminate all but about a half dozen foreign military bases, and spend the savings on aircraft carriers. Welfare would be cut back to what it should be for, the very old the very young, and the infirm. Healthy lazy assed drones would not get one thin dime. NO criminal alien would get any taxpayer money at all.

Ever seen the quality of a VA hospital from the 60’s or 70’s?

If the US can abandon the ABM treaty, Russia and China can abandon the Outer Space Treaty.

They don’t have to be in geosynchronous orbit. They can be in Low Earth Orbit and orbiting very fast. If they put enough up, they can easily have 800 warheads over the US at any given time.

And no, we can’t destroy any nuclear weapons the moment they leave the pad. We have zero systems capable of destroying ICBM’s in the boost phase.

The U.S. was allowed to withdraw from the ABM treaty. IIRC no such provision applies to the Outer Space Treaty.

To have 800 warheads over the U.S. the Russians would have to launch on the order of 3,000.
At any rate if the Russians want to place big chunk of their nuclear arsenal in predictable extremely easy to detect satellites which can't be effectively hardened against conventional attack and cost an order of magnitude more than ICBMs then the U.S. should probably encourage that. Plus they would be difficult to maintain by the Russians for that matter.

Remember that the Russians(Soviets) lost the last Cold War and severely damaged their economy by spending excessively on defense.

And if their choices are spend that money or get nuked with impunity by the US? Which do you think they would choose?

Why would anyone around the world including the Russians (or Chinese) ever believe that the United States would "nuke them"? It isn't like we tried to pull that when we had a monopoly on useable nuclear weapons for more than a decade.

I agree with legalization of drug usage, but everything else you said would be a disaster without revamping our welfare state. Also, price controls are a terrible idea with tons of unintended consequences.

They had the ability to lay waste to Western Europe during that time. We didn't have enough nukes to use them tactically and they could have killed millions of our allies. That stayed our hand.

If we developed the missile shield technology you are advocating, no such limits would exist. We could demand the Russians and Chinese submit to American hegemony and then nuke with impunity any area of resistance. You think they'd be willing to just take the chance?

LOL! And if I were president I would grow the economy by 10% annually.

You realize that austerity is incompatible with short term economic growth. That's why no GOP president ever does austerity, because they would be voted out after the first term and a huge recession.

Your list looks more like a wishlist rather than serious policy proposals.

Reducing the footprint of the federal government and thus the deficit (thus freeing up massive amounts of capital) is vital to economic growth.

Does a nation like Russia or China really have to threaten the U.S. mainland to deter the U.S.?

After all at any one time aren't there something like 10-20 million American citizens overseas? They can threaten them.

Numbers 8 and 9 of your unstated goals already exist. Its called a Marine Expeditionary Unit, or MUE for short, Americas 911 Force.

And when the US conducts a NEO and evacs those people from threatened areas?

Put yourself in their shoes: If China developed an impenetrable missile shield and the only thing stopping them from nuking America into submission was their word that they won't, would we sit by and do nothing while they built that shield?

I would build a shield of our own. Isn't a defensive arms race better than an offensive nuclear arms race?

We can all be glad you'll never be President. ;)

Eliminate critical government services but build amusement parks? Okie dokie.

PS. The Supreme Court would not allow you to destroy the Constitution like that.

And if there was going to be an overlap of years when they will have a full shield and can nuke America with impunity and when our shield is online? Would you just hope during that time they don’t nuke you and trust in the goodness of their communist hearts?

LOL again. How do you think you can cut government, which is about 20% of the economy, by 50%, i.e. a 10% cut in overall economic spending, and still grow the economy by 5.2% annually?

Only in fiscal hawk math-free zone.

Seriously, if those Trump fans were in charge, the country would be in even bigger trouble than it is now.

    If I were President...

...I would be assassinated by the deep state, just like JFK.

I never suggested cutting the size of the federal government by 50%.

    Not even 10%

Why are you suggesting that I'm a fan of Donald Trump?
