The households of illegal immigrants receive an average of about $1,000 more annually in federal welfare benefits than do the households of non-immigrant recipients, a new analysis finds.

According to the immigration control advocacy group, Center for Immigration Studies, which breaks down federal cost data from 2012, the welfare payout to likely illegal immigrant households averages $5,692 yearly, compared with the average $4,431 welfare payout to non-immigrant households collecting the benefit.

The CIS analysis study points out illegal immigrants are barred from directly receiving welfare, but may obtain it through their U.S.-born children.

All immigrant-headed households — legal and illegal — receive an average of $6,241 in welfare, 41 percent more than the $4,431 received by a non-immigrant household on welfare, according to the analysis.

The total cost is over $103 billion in welfare benefits to households headed by immigrants. A majority, 51 percent, receive some type of welfare compared with 30 percent of non-immigrant U.S. households, the analysis shows.

Immigrants receiving the most in the study of 2012 figures come from Mexico and Central America, which collect an average of $8,251 yearly, 86 percent higher than the benefits used by non-immigrant households, the analysis finds.

How is it that kids can have a different citizenship as their guardian parents? Well, if you don't want to send the kids with them, send the parents and put the kids with fosters. Maybe less parents would be inclined to cross the border to give birth on our dime. It's the parents fault for putting them in this situation.

 

If they are found guilty of committing fraud against a social welfare program to which they are not entitled, by all means, deport them.

Unfortunately for you, receiving SNAP for your American born children isn't a crime.

If people here illegally are not receiving food stamps, then the Washington Post and its readers have absolutely nothing to worry about. If the monitoring of food stamp usage causes people here illegally to go back home and apply for proper entry to the United States (or live happily ever after in whatever country they're from), that too is a good thing. Either way, how can this be taken as a bad thing? Building a wall is not the solution to the problem, it's a component of the solution to the problem. Apparently there are a number of things taking place within the immigration arena, all of which seem quite reasonable to anyone wishing to see our laws being followed.

 

It seems you get some sort of high knowing the parents snuck across the border to give birth on our dime and now we have to feed the kids. If we quit allowing those things, they wouldn't come here. Stop feeding them, throw them back over the border. If it makes you feel better, throw a tortilla over with them to get them by.

A much easier solution is to make it a felony to pay an illegal alien for services rendered.

If employers were fearful of going to prison for employing an illegal, you'd be damn sure they'd think twice before hiring one.

You are calling white people lazy when they only have more people on SNAP because they are the majority of people in America. And since when did your number of 40.2% equal a majority? You are missing about 21% of Americans in your post.

It's all a distraction anyway. Hispanic does not equal illegal. It's like claiming that all gun deaths are the same when murder is bad and justifiable homicide can be a good thing when innocent life is spared.

 

I never called white people lazy. Mainly because I know that receiving SNAP benefits doesn't necessarily equate to laziness, although I'm sure that that is true in a limited amount of recipients, regardless of their race.

The answer is still zero, or nearly zero, given a limited amount of fraud inherent in any given program.

 

How do you back something like that up? (you can't) That's like saying that voter fraud doesn't exist just because I can't provide enough proof or that Russia hacked our elections because I can't prove that they didn't.

• It SHOULD be, IMO. If you are in the country illegally, you should not be allowed to touch or administer any government money for someone else. The "rules" in this country are SO stupid and merely encourage ridiculous behavior. The best thing anyone could do for these kids is to remove them from people who expect others to pay for their parental decisions. Then they might have a chance of growing up and learning to be responsible for their own choices. But to subsidize the parenting choices of adults here illegally just because their kids are born U.S. citizens is ridiculous. Either pay for the kids yourself, or face losing custody if you aren't an American citizen. This idea that we can't or shouldn't deport parents who have citizen kids is crazy. These parents still have choices -- either take the kids with you (they'll still be citizens if they wish to return when of legal age to choose for themselves), or surrender custody rights and let citizen taxpayers raise them.

 

All an illegal alien needs is one anchor baby and the illegal alien family qualifies for food stamps, WICS, Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), HUD subsidizing housing and Medicade.
