I understand. I do too. I was just sharing, is all. And, one of my friends ONLY gets her "news" from FaceBook. She doesn't even Google what she reads there and will go off on long-winded rants as if all of it is gospel truth. That leads me to believe some people don't care about the "source" anyway. ;-0
I use Tiny, but it means going over to the site, copying and pasting, a bit cumbersome. but it does work.
President Biden, rejecting Donald Trump’s executive privilege claim, is ordering the release of White House visitor logs to the Jan. 6 panel. In a letter to the National Archives, a White House counsel said Mr. Biden had rejected Mr. Trump’s claims that the visitor logs were subject to executive privilege and that “in light of the urgency” of the committee’s work, the agency should provide the material to the committee within 15 days. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/16/...2891&user_id=4c68c4e9bd3f963fbfe158170142f11f
Judge rejects Trump effort to toss lawsuits accusing him of Jan. 6 conspiracy https://www.politico.com/news/2022/02/18/trump-january-6-lawsuit-00010249 Good !!
Here's an interesting story, which smelly greatly (as it involves somebody who has reportedly slept with a T****) https://www.yahoo.com/news/kimberly-guilfoyles-meeting-jan-6-180724522.html So, you agree to come in to give an interview before the 1/6 Committee, and 2 members of the 1/6 Committee show up, and you bail for that reason?? Suuuuuuure..... Sounds like she was looking for the first slight reason to bail....
I bet he's kicking himself for being such a jerk to Biden. Dumb@ss can't think logically to save his life.
Jan. 6 defendant Joshua James is first to plead guilty to seditious conspiracy in Capitol riot James, of Alabama, was one of 10 people indicted with Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes in what prosecutors allege was a coordinated, planned effort to storm the U.S. Capitol. James entered his plea Wednesday in U.S. District Court in D.C. https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-m...Q.Ap4yoLeviOtXa5I8kJawWh50sH0w92LGbZT4wAyWlww
The Jan. 6 select committee says its evidence has shown that then-President Donald Trump and his campaign tried to illegally obstruct Congress’ counting of electoral votes and “engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States.” https://www.politico.com/news/2022/03/02/jan6-trump-obstruction-justice-00013440
You are on top of that one... just read it this AM... Between the confirmation that the government now considers some of the events of 1/6 were seditious conspiracy, and that the T**** campaign "violated multiple laws in effort to overturn the election", how long can it be before the Committee makes criminal referrals to the DOJ (other than contempt)?? Will be interesting to see if the Committee will go ahead with planned public hearings with criminal charges possibly on the horizon. Wouldn't that be detrimental to criminal cases??
They don't need criminal trials, all that is necessary is to hang that dark cloud permanently over the Trump camp.
Yes, and that is why I think Trump kinda knew what he was doing. I think Trump garnered a certain group of fringe element followers, people who tend to believe in conspiracy theories and maybe espouse revolutionary responses. I think (OPINION) that he knew that there were a bunch of radicals going to the rally and capitol, and played that. I don't know that he envisioned them actually attacking the building and forcing their way in, but he sure didn't seem to mind it, and definitely didn't lift a finger to try and hinder it. He knows how to say one thing and do another, thereby giving devout followers a way to diffuse his responsibility. If there is anything genius about Trump, it is his ability to manipulate others of particular mindsets. In other words, he's really freaking good at taking advantage of others. At times, this could be an asset. Most of the time, it is a detriment, because it is unsustainable, hence the saying, "everything Trump touches dies". To use another term, he's a colossal bullshit artist.
That's what politics is all about, manipulating people of a particular mindset to exploit said mindset.
Sorry, you need criminal trials... the "permanent dark cloud" thing doesn't work for a man with supporters who are both clearly incapable of shame or embarrassment.. Loss of freedom and the privileges that come with that might be the only thing that sinks in... Here's a fun exchange from the Politico article SNIP “Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege,” Jacob, Pence’s counsel, emailed Eastman, along with a lengthy refutation of his argument. “The ‘siege’ is because YOU and your boss did not do what was necessary to allow this to be aired in a public way so the American people can see for themselves what happened,” Eastman replied, according to emails obtained by the panel. Even after this exchange, Eastman made one final plea to convince Pence to stop the counting of electoral votes, acknowledging it would amount to a “relatively minor” violation of the federal law known as the Electoral Count Act. “Plaintiff knew what he was proposing would violate the law, but he nonetheless urged the Vice President to take those actions,” the committee wrote in its filings. ENDSNIP LOL... don't worry about those "relatively minor" violations of Federal Law.... C'mon... Man up, Mike.... JFC with these people...
Is your point that Trump is no different than all these politicians who we generally dislike? I'm not trying to question your response or read into it, but you left it a little open ended. I would also argue that not all politicians are doing that. In fact, maybe I'm a little weird (no response necessary!), but I don't vote for who promises what I want, I try to vote for who will make smart and wise decisions as a leader. I understand that x,y or z politician isn't always going to do what I think they should do, but use their brains and make smart decisions and appoint competent people to make them. I'm ok with them not making the decision I want them to make, as long as they make the decisions wisely. Trump failed in that, just as I thought he would. His narcissism does not allow him the insight needed to make wise decisions. Resulting in incidents like Jan 6th. Any fool should have known it was a powder keg just looking for a light. So either it was intentional, or Trump was incompetent. Either way it was disqualifying, to me.
Well that is a theory which I'm sure you believe, but would be extremely difficult to factually support. Here is the Trump position on this paramilitary organization, "The Oath Keepers were 'parasitically using the Trump rally and co-opting the issue of the Electoral College debate for their own purposes."
Oh, absolutely possible! Which is one of the many aspects of the whole "Jan 6th" incident that needs to be investigated. Let's say that you are absolutely correct, that they used the Trump rally for their own purposes. One way for the committee investigating to help know that would be to look at the emails, letters, and other communications from Trump and associates to see that they weren't involved in what the Oath Keepers were doing/did. With that in mind, seems like the best thing for Trump would be to comply with the requests for information. Trump's resistance to investigation indicates to me that they have something to hide, most innocent people would say "here is the information so you can see I wasn't the cause of ....." Wouldn't that be a reason for Trump to immediately call for a halt when he saw what was happening? I think he knew they were going to be there, and thought that would add more pressure. I don't know if Trump knew they would assault the Capitol police, but the fact that he liked it is telling.
