If you push someone around long enough he's finally going to push back. It looks like he just did.

Britain is sending more warships to the area plus, it’s rumored, a nuclear sub. Don’t pull the old lion’s tail, not a wise thing to do as others have found to their cost.

Well, my plan would be to assassinate the Ayatollah and his gang while destroying Iran's air force and navy and nuclear facilities.

    No, you have that backwards.

As Pompeo has proclaimed, the US lies, cheats and steals, and he wasn't joking.

It wouldn't do any good because the UN is pretty much controlled by the US.

The US practices military aggression on a global scale, and is never punished for it.

I don't know the numbers. Zarif made it clear when he was on hard talk that people were dying. In one year in Venezuela the US sanctions killed forty thousand people so I would think it would be a lot more in Iran. Where is your problem. The US knows that it kills civilians with its sanctions. What it has done is put Iran under seige like in the old days. Iran either gives up it's sovereignty or the US will one way or another commit genocide.
Yes, nuclear power, not bombs. Iran has never claimed it wants nuclear bombs, just that it could, should it so wish have them before you could blink. Zarif said this again the other night on Hardtalk.

Iran and Germany had good relations ever since the founding of Germany as a nation state in the 19th century. While the Brits and the Russians jointly invaded Iran in 1941 using Iran's refusal to break off relations with Germany as a pretext, Iran had actually declared its neutrality after WWII broke out. The allies just wanted to use Iran as a land bridge to supply the Russian army.

Any insinuation that Iran felt any affinity for the anti antisemitism of the 3rd Reich, however, is absurd and so is drawing any parallels between Iran's attitudes on the issue and those among some groups in Palestine who might have already developed antipathy towards Jews. Leaving aside the fact that the Palestinians were themselves considered Semites and would have been equally subject to the Nuremberg laws, Iran actually took measures to even save the Jews at the time.

    p.s.
Some may find this comment by Naseredin Shah, the Iranian monarch who visited Europe {including Germany) in 1871, interesting.

The BBC were having a table discussion on Iran last night. One of the participants was journalist Abdel Bari Atwan born in a Gazan Refugee Camp in 1950 and now a British citizen. He said he believed that the Iranians had become suicidal. Possibly that could be put another way. The US has left them with no way out. They have reneged on a deal which took 12 years to make and clearly are trying to kill them with their economic siege. Iran has made clear it will not give up its sovereignty which is what the US is demanding. Iran also is expecting the US to attack. The only possibility of avoiding this would appear to be if the EU stands up to the US and keeps the deal. Now him saying Iran had gone suicidal was him saying what Iran will do if and when the US starts it wars. It will destroy everything American in the region and it will destroy the desalination plants and cut of electricity in the area as well as of course attack Israel with everything it has. This will be a catastrophe for everyone in the Middle East. If the US intends on taking out Iran, she will not go alone.

Where did you get that from because no one is saying that here. They did say after Iran's threat to take one of our boats that they were sending an extra warship but that is all. They refused the offer of US 'protection' for our ships after Iran threatened to take one in retaliation because they did not want to make the situation more volatile which makes what you say unlikely. Link please.

That has nothing to do with what I said. Don't waste my time...ah an American talking of Democracy. An American from a country which is not a democracy and which is also trying to kill the people of another country Venezuela claiming it is not a democracy when it had a far stronger Democracy than the US ever had. What a country. Murdering everyone it says is not a democracy while not being a democracy itself and knowing so little about democracy that it tries to annihilate countries which are democracies because they do not have a political view that benefits the US economically and not only that hides from its people the real dangers of climate catastrophe because saving humanity and the planet and neo liberal Capitalism cannot exist together. I think it is the US who has a suicidal mindset.

Be terrified but of yourself. It is not for no reason that the US has been voted the most dangerous country in the world for several years. Many american's are so arrogant and feel so superior they are unable to see what they are doing. What I wrote there is true. You could not argue against it. Now this is time wasting as was the post I was replying to. America is on its own in what it is doing to Iran. It is not impossible it may trap the UK into joining in but you are on your own. America will be responsible for whatever happens as a result of its actions.
