Friedman did in fact support NIT and flat tax!! NIT for efficiency, dignity, and incentives to work, and flat tax for fairness and efficiency!!

The NIT failed. The flat tax rate would lead to either severe poverty or a marginal rate of tax that generates disincentive effects. Progressive rates are ironically needed for it to operate. Its a key reason why right wingers have jumped ship and preferred cobblers such as the Laffer Curve analysis.

What does it mean when you say Friedmans negative income tax failed when it was never implemented? Try to make some sense please

goofy of course flat tax would be very very fair charging everyone the same percent. It would also be very efficient with no loopholes or deductions for anyone. Poverty would be reduced since the economy would be much more efficient.

You failed to understand the reality. Without progressive taxes, there has either to be a prohibitive tax on the workers (crrating genuine work disincentive effects) or an inefficiently high level of poverty (where potential productivity of the reserve army cannot be maintained).

wrong of course!! Friedman's flat tax increases personal exemptions for the working poor so there is no disincentive to work.

Naive! For the NIT to work, without progressive tax, the marginal rate of tax had to be prohibitively high.

as I said Friedman used personal exemptions so NIT and Flat Tax worked together beautifully.

Don't be silly. NIT integrated tax and benefit. It wouldn't work as it needed multiple tax rates to make the lowest income and lowest tax rate credible.

so what?? Any NIT or Flat tax would have numerous tweaks but it would always work better than current spaghetti mess of a system we have now

Crikey, do you read the posts? You have a low tax rate, you will ensure poverty rates that aren't agreeable. Didn't you ever wonder why right wingers suddenly shifted away from the NIT?

Republicans aren't free market capitalists. They are corporate-kowtowing, industry-welfarists. Not unlike Democrats.

Any two parties should be allowed to engage in exchange regardless of where on the globe they live.

yes if someone wants to protect his country from foreign trade, next he will want to protect his state and city from trade too and pretty soon he will have to make everything for himself. It is purely idiotic but stupid stupid megalomaniacal liberals simple can not resist the temptation to interfere with trade.

Not really. Plastic is easily molded, which applies to those who believe the ends justifies the means. Libertarians of both the modern variety and the anachronistic-whiny-angry-that-their-term-was-coopted variety are a great deal more principled.

Plastic pollution is more apt to your weak effort.

Crikey, we both know you're not a libertarian. That you still play pretend shows your lack of imagination, nothing more.

I'd rephrase that to "No one has the right to interfere with the peaceful exchange between two partiess regardless of where on the globe they happen to be."

"Allowed" implies that someone has the rightful power to grant the privilege to exchange.

Keep whining and whinging that your term has been taken. It's not a battle that you'll win, no matter how shrill your screaming.

I didn't realize that in your childish tantrum over a word that you were actually attempting to say anything remotely intelligent. I guess it's just that I don't speak annoying prat. You'll have to translate to English.
