Is "American Horror Story: Hotel" (tv show on FX) based on Philip K. Dick''s "Cry My Tears, the Policeman Said"?

There aren't a lot of similarities but then if you base things too close it's plagiarism. The main similarity between both is that the main story is about a cop who has gone so far undercover he is after himself, and doesn't realize it.

Also the atmosphere is pure Dickian, the whole underlying theme is a really dark speculation on "What is Reality?"

    Yes, No, Maybe, your thoughts?

I watch "American Horror Story" and I like this show. From what I have read, it is based on an actual old hotel in Los Angeles whom many claim is haunted. My favorite episode involved a meeting of famous serial killers who haunt this hotel, namely John Wayne Gacy and Aileen Wuornos. I don't know if Season #5 is based on the novel by Philip K. Dick.
