Assad is leading one of the most brutal regimes today. He censors and murders his own people to remain in power.

Is it time to stand up and help Syria? Invading the country is a horrible idea. (See iraq) But there are thousands of Syrians angry and ready to take down Assad. He won't stop murdering them until they stand up and fight.

The Syrian Rebel commander has fled too Turkey but wants to go back into his homeland. He has openly requested that the international community steps up and supplies aid to him. Countries signed into the "Friends of the People of Syria" have hinted that they are going to provide non-military aid. Money, supplies but not troops.

A Syrian rebel commander bemoans lack of international aid

How much should we do for Syria?

Humanitarian aid is the only real choice that can be made Assad is very popular so alternatives like arming the rebels will only escalate the amount of deaths greatly I'd prefer we didn't create another Afghanistan. But humanitarian aid should be provided to turkey to take care of the refugees they're the country i trust the most in the region and they've already taken in many refugees. A war would end miserably and airstrikes won't work out like in Libya. Providing those who need it with basic needs is what we should do. Otherwise hopefully the country can reform, revolutions are much too bloody and should only be attempted when victory is assured squandering lives on dreams is a sad waste when nothing is won.

The Syrian rebels are already being helped. They are getting armed by Qatar and the Saudis and the British and French have special forces in the area training them. There are mercenaries from Libya fighting with them and the Turkish government are allowing them to attack Syrian border guards from Turkey. The American government are sending them so called non lethal equipment which is military stuff all the same. They are not going to win that war anyway. The Syrian rebels are not all that great, they have been torturing, executing people/civilians just like the Assad regime.

We have heard it all before. Genocide in a number of countries, some of which the US takes an interest and some of which it doesn't.

Is there any oil in Syria?

Civilians are being wiped out in Sudan right now, where is the outcry? Where is the UN security council? Where are the sanctions on Sudan's banks, economy? The huge interest in Syria has nothing to do with human rights and everything to do with Iran. Syria is an ally of Iran and being as Iran needs to be crushed by the west Syria is on the list as well. Plenty of oil in Iran.

No, but there are muslims in Syria and they are building a huge empire in the Middle East since 1945 (AL) (again it's about the Middle East as was in the time of the Roman empire, what is happening today is a repeat of that time) There are lots of other countries in the world were more bad things are happening (look at Zimbabwe, thousands starved to death by MUgabe, he can stay in power) It's all about building an empire and they need a majority of the Syria people behind a new regime (and then join Syria to the Arab League) Same goes for Iran, it's only about the people, the masses (empire building)
They create empires and cause war between them. Same happened to Germany and Russia, two (ideologically opposite, but fundamentally the same) empires.

I dont think so, we help them they hate us, we dont help them they hate us. So why endanger the lives of our people when they will just go agianst us in the end?

Absolutly, I think it's about time isreal stepped up and did something. After all, they are next to Syria. Seems like Turkey is the only one doing anything.

Why help our enemies against our enemies...when our enemies might end up more dangerous to us then the enemy already there? I think we ought to see what pans out.
